Re: DO NOT OPEN- Air Ride Technologies inside
And to think... I was just about to ask what tire sizes you were running.
Are you happy with the KDW's?

Re: DO NOT OPEN- Air Ride Technologies inside
That's the current set up. I have been considering a fresh look. As for the KDW's they are just fine. When I bought them, they were very pricey but it was the only matching tread pattern I could find.
The price has dropped on them over time as well as there are more economical alternatives. Some times it cost extra to be anal...

Re: What did you get done 8/02/09 edition
I personally didn't get much done this week besides a lot of research. There are several things I am considering as upgrades on my 77 that needed to be looked in to. Still looking for answers there.
On the other hand my buddies Keith and Roger where a blur of progress on my truck. By mid day on Friday they had the front suspension changed out. They moved so quickly, I didn't get a progress report until the wheels were back on. What you don't see is the stock A-arms have been replaced with a complete set of ART Strong Arms and an ART heavy duty Musclebar kit. Before and after-

Re: What did you get done 8/02/09 edition
On Saturday they moved to the rear. The bed came off and tear down began. The frame rails were stripped of the leaf spring hangers in preparation for the ART Airbar 4 link system.

Re: What did you get done 8/02/09 edition
The front 4 link brackets mounted in the existing holes. The restr of the assembly bolted to the axle. Unfortunately the original C-Notch with boxing plates had to be removed. That required 18 holes to be drilled to install the new C-notch.

Re: What did you get done 8/02/09 edition
The existing mounting points for the tank rack were saved. The exhaust system will probably need to be modified. The wrong panhard bar bracket was sent with the kit so the panhard bar couldn't be installed to check for clearance.
While I didn't get a lot done Keith and Roger had a very active weekend. Thanks to my buddies for moving forward. Special thanks to Roger at RPL Customs for making room in his very hectic schedule to take this project on.

Re: DO NOT OPEN- Air Ride Technologies inside
Looking good, its great to have buddies like you have in Keith and Roger.
Care to let us in on the other updates your thinking of? Given how the truck has been in the past, anything that you decide will be top notch...

Re: DO NOT OPEN- Air Ride Technologies inside
I am going to pick it up on Sunday. I got the latest round of cell phone pics yesterday. They got the correct panhard bar bracket installed. ART had shipped a 10 bolt bracket and my 77 is a 12 bolt. They finished plumbing the airlines, and rerouted the rear brake lines. With the addition of a new pressure switch to replace a flaky one, I should be ready to roll.

Re: DO NOT OPEN- Air Ride Technologies inside
It's not easy to tell from the pics, but it sits a little lower all around. The front was raised back up with the addition of a custom built bump stop to allow it to roll. The rear is probably just a bit lower than the front, so a taller stop will be added there too.

Re: DO NOT OPEN- Air Ride Technologies inside
The exhaust will need to be modified. I had it running down the drivers side and out the back corner. With the crossbrace, shock, and panhard bar all occupying that space now, it won't clear. I plan to cut and flip the Y-pipe and run down the passenger side.

Like everyone else, I have my wish list. I am considering several options such as new wheels, and bigger brakes. More than anything, I would like to get my bucket seats recovered and installed. I finally located the correct vinyl, so I am one step closer to that happening.

Re: DO NOT OPEN- Air Ride Technologies inside
Ken, that thing has turned out amazing, and I can definitely tell a difference in the stance of your truck.
Can't wait to see some shots of it back on the prowl... awesome work Roger and Keith!
