Reveille - Questions.....

Here is the SPID from her. Apparently the previous owner updated her to electronic ignition. Included a pic of the distributer cap/rotor. It was worn to crap. Replaced plugs/wires etc. Planned on replacing cap/rotor/coil etc, but not 100% sure where to proceed to find replacements for what is installed. Main goal right now is to get it in decent running order then go from there. Also need to replace the trans filters and gaskets. I'm pretty sure I have the turbo 400 trans based on the SPID (M49). The cover based on what I've read fits that description (Longer than wide). Although, I have seen other threads where M49 could be the 350 as well.

Any help you folks could give would be great!!!

Robert

Re: Reveille - Questions.....

Thanks gentlemen! I had seen the TX shape comment before too. That is based on the back end shape of the pan correct? Added some pics I took this morning before I left for work. Not great I know.

I'm at work now, but I'll see if I can't talk my wife into climbing under her to count the bolts on the pan! Hopefully she loves me that much!

Re: Reveille - Questions.....

LOL!! Apparently she does love me!!! She looked but couldn't figure it out. Filter's and gasket's are cheap, so I asked her to pick up both and I'll return the one I don't need.

On the other note, what about the Dist Cap/Rotor/Condenser etc.. Any thoughts? Calling my local parts guy that I trust/know, but wanted some other opinions!

Thanks again!

Re: Reveille - Questions.....

My wife is Taiwanese and doesn't really understand why I'd even want to drive an old truck, much less pay big bucks for the parts to restore it. Where she grew up (Brazil) the cars get old and they just stack them up. Mostly VW Bugs..

She just let's me do whatever but there is no way she'd ever crawl under it .. she's a keeper man!

Re: Reveille - Questions.....

Unfortunately it is a 350. Was really hoping it would be a 400. But oh, well. The good news is that she lives! :-) I'll post the video shortly. Nothing great, but she does sound good! Still have a little bit of an issue with dying while on a hill, but that may be a fuel pickup issue. I HOPE! :-)

Re: Reveille - Questions.....

There's nothing wrong with a TH350. They are the bread and butter transmission that the General made. Probably more built than any other tranny in the GM line. I've built them from bone stock and also to handle over 400 HP.

The TH400 actually robs a bit of HP to turn it... it was designed to go behind big block engines.

. . . .

Another " Interesting " SPID . . .

It has the HIGHLANDER gray plaid seats . . .

The PA1 Deluxe wheel covers, found on a Highlander . . .

But doesn't list the YG6,7 or 8 "Spec Promotion Package".

Steve,

What do you mean "interesting"? The seat has been swapped and I don't have the wheel covers. What are the other packages you mentioned? Since I am a newbie to these, I want to learn as much as I can.

Thanks! Rob

Rob,

I'm certainly NOT an expert on the highlander . . . I only have the wheel covers on my C-10 . . . other people who will read this will tell you in more detail. It was a promotional package added towards the end of 1972 to help boost sales ( from what I've heard ) There were three different packages, A B C. Below, are pictures of some of the details in the packages and a picture of someone else's SPID with the package listed. I've seen at least one more SPID like yours on this website ( didn't list any packages, but had the plaid seat or wheel covers etc ) That's what I meant by "interesting" !!!

Cool! Thanks for the info. I did some googling, since I had not heard of the Highlander package. Even though it doesn't have the package listed, it does have all the options of the C package. Since I don't have the body molding, I can't be certain.
