pulling power?

I am thinking of getting a big camper around 30' long or so . I was curious if anyone is pulling anything that size with their old trucks. I have a C20 w/402 BBwith a 400 turbo and 3;54 gears. anyone have the same setup and do you think it will have the power to do the job. when I bought it there was a big reciever hitch and a trailer brake system existing.I have been told by a few people ,that this combination has good torque and puling power , let me know.

You shouldn't have any problems because I'm running a 350 and you've got a 402 in your truck. I moved a 33ft travel trailer with mine a couple weeks ago. I just hooked it straight to my step bumper with a 2" ball. The trailer was sitting in grass so it kinda sank in the dirt, so I started in low 1 then I shifted to drive when I got going, and I didn't have any trouble. 'Course I've got 4.10 gears so it's got a lot of torque with that hopped up 350. When we go camping out of town, we pull it with my Dad's 85 Burb. It's a 1/2 ton with a 350SBC and a 700R4 auto. We had tranny problems with that, but they were re-manufactured th400's from autozone and they sucked. Believe it or not, we went through THREE of those trannys before my Dad said screw it, so he got the 700R4 from another burb at the junkyard and had a guy here rebuild it and it's been working great. And yeah, we installed/removed all three of them, and then made autozone pay for getting the 700r4 put back in the surburban.

You should be just fine with that setup. Make sure your tranny cooler is in tip-top shape before you go long-haulin' that rig, though.
