Well, it's not a Chevy, GMC or even a truck, but it's pretty fun to putt around in. '85 Jeep CJ-7, one owner, 60,000 miles, original paint, absolutely no options - delete radio, no power steering, no power brakes, no air and a 4 spd. Just a plain old bare bones Jeep with absolutely no rust whatsoever. Nice Ramsey winch on the front, with all the paperwork since day one, including the receipt for the winch 20 years ago. I flew out to New Mexico and picked this up on Friday and drove it back to Austin. Great road trip. I've never made that drive before. Of course, it was hotter than heck when I crossed into Texas and I sunburned my left leg driving with the doors off. The kids love it. We've been taking it out in the evenings and tooling around. She ran flawlessly for the 700 mile drive. Overall, it's a keeper for me. I can't resist the stock one owners. The plans are to detail it, keep it stock, drive it and have some fun.

I almost fell over when I lifted up the carpet and looked at the floor. Pretty clean underneath the hood and under the tub too.

Very cool, we hired a wrangler when we were in Maui and it was a real hoot to drive around.

doesn't the folding windshield, completely defeat the purpose of the club

So for even more cruising comfort,I don't remember the size(either 1/4 or 5/16) bolt or rod.Make one pice and L shape and put a crossbar at the end of the short arm of the "L".Drop it in the lower hole for the door hinge.Hiway pegs are cool on a street driven Jeep but not so cool on trails.Works best on auto tranny's.BTW you need one for each side.

I had a 1981 CJ7. I miis it real bad. It had a Chevy 327 in it. Tip, if you use it off road keep the skinny tires. My buddy alway ran skinny tires and never had an issue. The rest of us had cool wide tires and had a hard time keeping up with him. It's debatable though.

Very clean looking Jeep. Not sure if I've ever seen one without rust, nice find.

I had a '77 CJ5...Total blast to drive. Nothing beats cruising with no top or doors.

Thanks guys. I do find myself thinking about making some modifications here and there. We'll see. This will keep me occupied at least until the Blazer is roadworthy.

I have owned a dozen or so CJ's, mostly 5's, but also a few 7's. I used to build them before getting into these trucks. That one looks to be in good shape. Nice that you have the T-176 transmission, as opposed to the T-4 that was also available that year. You can climb a telephone pole in 1st gear.
