Where to got captured door panel nuts

On my 70 passenger, 2 of the 4 captured nuts that the lower door panel screes thread into, are gone. not in the bottom of the door. And a 3rd one I have to put tape on to keep from falling into the door when I remove and install the door panel.

I believe they are just wedged in there and not welded. Over time, the metal in the door changes shape and not longer holds them.

Where can I get replacements?

Thanks in advance.

Contact ToPeCo Products. They are in National City, Ca. 800-266-9314
2525 Southport Way, Suite H
National City, Ca. 91950

They handle a lot of OEM fasteners. If they don't have them they may be able to tell you where to get them. Good Luck

Bet they're still open!

Re: Where to got captured door panel nuts

I was wondering about that myself. I had one that was rusty and busted out and beyond hope of putting back in. All I had was a square hole. By accident at the hardware store I found cage nuts. I thought they were interesting so I bought one for a few cents. it turned out to be just what I needed. I have not yet installed my door panels. Here is what one of those welded in or pressed in factory nuts looks like, and the cage nut. They are 1/4-20 thread size.

Ace Hardware has the caged style in their bolt bins. At least the ones I have visited did.

I got mine from the hardware store. They were just called license plate nuts. I tacked them into place.

You may find them here. https://www.auveco.com/

Once you have a description, check for retail. I don't think Auveco sells retail.

A good hardware store has many sizes. Do not wast your time in chain stores!

Re: Where to got captured door panel nuts

Use plastic license plate clips. Readily available at any parts store, and cheap. That's what I've used on my doors and they work great.
