Check out this brochure

An eagle-eyed friend of mine saw these Custom Autosound brochures at the big Syracuse show this past weekend. Should I call them and ask for my piece of the pie??
When the Niner was in Classic Trucks magazine a few years ago there was an interior picture that shows their stereo. And in the spec section I listed their brand stereo. So they must've figured what the hey, we'll use this truck - the picture of the truck is from the magazine article also.

Re: Check out this brochure

Did you take the pictures yourself (or have a photographer take them for you) or did the magazine contract a photographer to shoot them? If you had a photographer take them, did they provide you with a print release for the magazine along with the images?

Re: Check out this brochure

Classic Trucks wouldn't even give me a few free samples when my truck was in the magazine so I'm not exactly holding my breath on info from them.

I think it's cool. A law suit would never enter my mind. Never been one for expecting something for nothing.

X2 - Take it as a compliment. If there is one thing this country needs less of, it's definitely frivolous law suits.

Oh I agree, and I personally wouldn't go after them with an attorney either, but if that company isn't very big (I don't know if they are) they probably would benefit from a heads up that they are putting themselves at risk. And if a professional photographer took the photos and they didn't have a release to use them for advertising, they are REALLY at risk. Personally, I'd just be flattered to have a truck nice enough to be used for such a purpose!

Probably so. It's like anything else in this country anymore: convoluted as hell and full of legal loopholes and litigation opportunities.

CUSTOM AUTOSOUND might give You the latest system or some thing! I would contact them and see if they offer You any thing! FRAME that brochure. Just let them know it is Your Truck. Kool that Your Truck was featured and advertised!

Re: Check out this brochure

ha....I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue...lol.
Check it out, this is one of the pictures of my truck taken in front of the Home depot in Sacramento when I bought it....both with Boise radio (Custom autosound?) advertising...and without.

Hmmm, I'm not too or overly worked up about photo rights, etc....and I am always negotiable with this type of thing. I wonder if I could trade an AM/FM unit for use of the pic?
It is a little sneaky on their behalf to use a pic they found and market their product around it....

All Good

Re: Check out this brochure

I just wanted to let y'all know that my original post with wanting a piece of the pie was purely tongue in cheek (maybe the laughing emoticon at the end of the sentence wasn't enough).
I'm thinking along the same lines as Special-K. It was a complete surprise and I thought it was wicked cool. And I'll just leave it at that.

It used to have a Gaylord Lid.
Very well constructed and convenient. But it never really was my style so I got rid of it 2 years ago.

Re: Check out this brochure

Well you got to admit that's a pretty cool little brochure. Litigation seems kind of silly to me. I think if it was my truck I would drop them an email and just say something like. If you are going to use my truck in an advertisement again please consider an owners credit in there somewhere, maybe name and state in small print?
