Wanting to take the knob off my bench seat tracks and put it on my bucket seat tracks. Is there a trick to this? Can't get it off .

Re: Seat adjustment knob removal?

If your just talking about the plastic knob itself it should just pull off with a little front to back motion.

I would warm it up a little with a hair dryer or heat gun or you may crack it. Just remember it is plastic so go slow & easy on the heat.

Re: Seat adjustment knob removal?

Easiest way to get it off is to clamp a pair of vise grips close the the knob and pry with a large screwdriver between the grips and knob, will come right off, also works for heater lever knobs

Re: Seat adjustment knob removal?

Thanks guys I will try it again with a little heat. It looks to be a little hardened from age.

I think they're glued on. Couldn't tell you with what, but it's mild. I did what Doc said and it came off easily.

Re: Seat adjustment knob removal?

Take a large crescent wrench and open the jaws just enough to fit over the metal lever. Then tap the wrench on side opposite the knob, basically tapping it off with out banging it up.

Re: Seat adjustment knob removal?

My shorts snag on mine and pull it off all the time when I'm getting out. I have to pick it up from where ever it rolls. I thought about gluing it, but then I'd have to start a thread on how to remove it one day.
