What size tire for 15x8 Truck Ralleys

I bought a set of 15x8 ralley wheels to put on my 72 long bed Cheyenne. I am looking to get a set of wider BFG tires to make it look a little sportier. What I am asking is what is a good size tire to put on it that would represent a period correct aftermarket setup. I looked at a truck that had 235/70-15's on it. They looked a little skinny for what I am trying to do. Any ideas?

I think the 275/60 is the perfect tire for an 8 inch wheel.

X 2. I think the 215/70 is perfect for 7" rallye wheels.

I'm running 255/70's, the outside diameter is pretty close to stock so the speedo is semi accurate.

Hello,
I really like the look of the chrome chevy center caps on the slotted rally wheels. Can you recommend a place I can buy these center caps?
Thank you,

Re: What size tire for 15x8 Truck Ralleys

Most of these trucks came with L78/15 tires which convert to the 235/75R15 radial tire.

P235/75R15 is 28.88 inches high with a 9.25 inch footprint

P235/70R15 is 27.96 inches high with a 9.25 inch footprint

P255/70R15 is 29.04 inches high with a 10.03 inch footprint

P275/60R15 is 27.96 inches high with a 10.08 inch footprint

If you want to fill in your whellwells more I think the P255/70R15's are the way to go. You have a little wider tire than stock and a fuller wheelwell especialy if you use an 8 or 9 inch rim.

Re: What size tire for 15x8 Truck Ralleys

I have 295/50's on mine, but also think the 275/60 is hard to beat. I will be switching to that size next time around.

I just did a rotation. Man, the rears usually don't wear out faster than the front on my other vehicles

Re: What size tire for 15x8 Truck Ralleys

Here's a pic of 235/70-15 fronts and 255/70-15 rears.I also have a 2 1/2 front 4 rear drop.I will do a wider tire next time but until the power steering is installed I wanted to be able to turn it.

Re: What size tire for 15x8 Truck Ralleys

245/60/15 Front
275/60/15 Rear

That is my fav setup, but really depends on the stance of your truck and the look you are going for.

They will work much better with an 8 or 9 inch rim as oposed to a 7 inch rim.

Re: What size tire for 15x8 Truck Ralleys

Wwotr - your truck is perfect. The drop/ tire combo is exactly what I am looking for. Can I get the details? Drop spindles?

What kind of paint job? Bc/ flat cc, primer, or something else.

Thanks in advance
