Re: 68 gmc jet turbine truck

I get a whopping two mile per gallon. Costs me about $60 bucks to get to cruise nights and back. Not you daily driver. But it sure turns heads. Fun to drive.

Re: 68 gmc jet turbine truck

can you even push the accelerator to the floor without blowing the tires off..

id like to see a video of you getting on it real hard, just wondering how fast it will accelerate

Re: 68 gmc jet turbine truck

Lots of you asking how fast the truck is. Not sure yet. I am still working out small bugs. I have a line lock in and plan to post a burnout, but i don't want to break it yet. Once you get past the few seconds of throttle lag it moves faster the a good runing small block and i have not one past 80% power.

It cruises down the freeway just above a idle in third gear. What it will do in fourth i don't know. How fast do you want to go in a 68 truck.

No one i talked to said i would be able make it drivable. I did and an still enjoying the looks it gets as i drive down the road. More to come.

Re: 68 gmc jet turbine truck

you get two brownie points for making it drivable.. alot of projects dont get that far, let alone a truck with a turbine engine

Re: 68 gmc jet turbine truck

Yes, I'd definitely have to give you the "Tim the Toolman" award on that one... for putting more power in a truck (and making it work) then most would even think of, let alone put it all together in a nice looking package that actually works.....

:two thumbs up:!

Re: 68 gmc jet turbine truck

That is one of the neatest projects I have ever seen

I can't imagine how much different the turbine would be from the conventional engine that we are all use too. I would say it requires your attention much more than you are use to just to get it down the road but I could be wrong. Plus the noise, wear earmuffs?

Props man, great looking truck too

Re: 68 gmc jet turbine truck

Chrysler built quite a few gas/turbine engine cars in the sixties/seventies, but they were never sold to the public, here's a good read:

Cool Video:

Major props man, that thing is sweet! Do you use earplugs when you drive it?
