Time to build some trucks.

This is going to be a long term build of several truck. The reason so is best use of my time as I will be sole builder from ground up.When building the engine I am going to do several at a time and set them on engine stands ready to go.same with everything else. when fixing seats I will do several sets to get better each time.I have a very large collection of trucks and parts.I am going to sale extra parts to by the parts I need.My house ,land and everything else is all payed for.I have no debt,no payments except utilities, food and insurance.I am working on nothing but my trucks and my shop for the next 2 years.I have been waiting to be in this shape for a long time.I started a week ago with consoles.I have already done a few and am doing some more of those.I am going to start sand blasting and priming in the day .seats and consoles in between. You can see the results of the first weeks work on the parts board with the consoles I have sold.I have spent $1500 in NOS trim in the last 2 weeks with funds from the parts sold. Here are pics of the next 3 at the start.I will post pics of damage and what it take to repair them. then the finished product.Name: 101_0294.jpg

Re: Time to build some trucks.

Both blue consoles have damage on the right rear corners.other than that they are complete and in good shape.White console has cracks on both rear corners along with a few more stress cracks all in upper.Name: 101_0299.jpg

Sweet man, cant wait to see pics of the progress. You do blasting on the side? I have a cab that needs blasted in and out. If so, how much do you charge?

Re: Time to build some trucks.

This is a donor.Rust free 72 bb cheyenne super 20 from Carson city NV.Big thanks to Junkyard John for the hospitality to someone he had never met. This body is replacing one from an original 72 swb cheyenne super 10 bb that the body was beyond repair.I still have the spid title and plate for this frame.I paid way to much 15 years ago for a total rust bucket because of the way it was optioned. All the metal will be different but I intend to rebuild as it was shipped. It was a blue and white two tone with bb,tilt ,tach,ac,posi, tinted glass and buckets.I have a complete rustfree all gm body needing outer rockers only to build it with.Blue and white is my favorite.I have 71 and 72 bb cheyenne supers completely disassembled to restore.72 cheyenne super 20 bb blue and white driver,72 cheyenne 30 longhorn bb blue and white driver,72 cheyenne super 20 4x4 was my favorite driver that has sat neglected to long needing trans. The blue list!I have enough to last me for years!Work on trucks, do a little fishing.Work on trucks, do a little hunting.work on trucks,oh ya work on trucks.lots of pics will be coming.

Re: Time to build some trucks.

I have not done any for anyone else.I used a small siphon pot and spot blasters for years to get by.In the last several months I purchased a 110 lb blasting pot and a big blasting cabinet along with a 40lb soda blaster..I will post some pics of what I have set up for blasting soon. basically 2 blasting tents that I can set up and take down easily.I plan to blast, eprime and do metal repair to several cabs in a row to protect them and have ready to build.I have about a dozen swb trucks torn down and scattered over three pieces of property.I am at a point where I plan to take several months to get body parts and chassis parts for about 6 trucks organized and ready to build one after another.I figure if I do 5 or 6 super nice quality trucks out of what I have collected and take pics of everything as I go eventually I can start building trucks for other people and turn my hobby into a lifestyle. That is the plan anyway.

Re: Time to build some trucks.

few more pics. The now black console was the blue one I did repair to.turned out nice just needs bolting together.tan one is for a friend and one of each style in parchment will be for sale soon.I have made a decision on the first truck that I am going to concentrate most of my effort on for a couple months.I just bought a nice rolling chassis with most of the work done from 72 SUPER CHEYENNE.It will put me way ahead so I can get this show going.I have a 71 bb cab that I picked up while in CA that only needs outer rockers for the most part and a 454 from the Sacramento pick n pull. From coast to coast.I have not decided on the color yet but it will be a 71 custom deluxe with tilt tach buckets and a wooden floor bed.I am going to document it with pics from start to finish and it will go up for sale when complete.I don't think you have to be a big name builder to get top dollar for a nicely restored truck.I think the end result, documentation of everything done and the right advertising will sale the truck.I guess the proof will be in the pudding.I already have 95% of everything needed to complete the build on hand so there should be no major delays.Once sold the funds will go toward getting my shop built the way I want.I hope that within the next 2 years Ducks Trucks will be open for business.Name: 101_0358.jpg

Re: Time to build some trucks.

Leroy B1 sorry I missed your question .I am in the lower southeast corner of the state in Elizabethtown NC.Once I get my shop up I will have a big board meet and everyone will be invited to bring their families .We will have a big cook out and the kids can fish in my pond.I am going to be working out of a 2 car garage for this first single truck and do the painting at my buddies booth.I need to go rent a big storage unit and empty the garage next week so I have room to work.I have way to much stuff sitting around and you can barely tip toe thru.

Re: Time to build some trucks.

That is why I am doing this first truck just to sale off.I was getting ready to put up my shop but I decided to do 1 truck first and use the proceeds so I can build the shop I want instead of just what I can afford right now.I just don't want to go in debt for it so this is how I plan to pay as I go.
