Brought back my grandfathers 68, 307, truck to the shop over the weekend. This needs more work then I had hoped it would, but still workable

I can not complain since it was for free!
It's been sitting with a bed full of debris for ten yr's!
I'll start by getting it to run first, then slowly start on repairs and getting into a resto-mod. Colors will stay yellow/white, but may vary in tone a bit.

Yes, the bed will stay wood, just not THAT wood!

It gets a good wash down this week,( inside and out, I brought it back from Yakima, WA and there are a lot of Blackwidows over there and this thing has spider nests and cobwebs everywhere! ) along with getting the carb pulled for a rebuild, tank cleaned out, and everything else that needs cleaning or taken apart or flushed and changed, before I try and start it.

Had a board member ( Liverat ) stop by and he took a look at my 68. I will more then likely be getting some parts from him soon!
I had him confirm something that my business neighbor thought that it was, an old style block heater. Is it worth keeping for nostalgic sake or not worth the trouble?
I also have a turbo 400 with the electronic kick down next to the two barrel carb. Something else I had no clue of. ( I can post a pic of that if someone wants to look at it) I'm learning stuff already about these older trucks!

Well I took a power washer to the truck today, WOW! what a difference. It didn't make her run, but looks better at least.
Hope to have her started sometime next week if I can get the gas tank replaced, It's shot.

I managed to get the gas cap off and who new crap could grow in there! the back of the gas gap had something they might resemble mold, if gas could do that.

I'll post picks of her washed tomorrow.

I wasn't able to do anything with the motor, cleaning wise, yet. But I did get the carb off to get rebuilt., and have all new ignition parts to go in when it gets back.

It's a good start. The roof of the cab looks GREAT! Other then the typical rockers and corners, the cab is really nice. The custom glove box is sweet. I want to put that script across the tail gate of mine on a piece of aluminum or stainless.

Finally have gotten some work done!
I have her up and running, except the NEW starter has already taken a crap! another new one going in on Tuesday.
I have sandblasted a few parts, primered, new headers that sit above the frame rails ( from Joker69 ) Still need to swap out the 2 bl carb for the 4 bl and new intake when the 200r4 goes in, cleaned the hell out of the cab, powered wash the engine compartment and frame, ( still didn't get everything off, but a huge improvement! ) Scrapped the rear bumper, did some trade work for the rims and tires with Joker69 ( I made him a custom 4 row DVD stand out of metal for his home ) the rims cleaned up pretty good with some hand polishing, cleaned up some wiring that was just hanging around

I have repair panels standing by for the next step in getting her ready for some serious body work, new wood bed, lowering, then some paint.
Not looking to do a frame off just yet, I know the bed will be coming off for the cab corner repair, but that's about it for awhile. Maybe next year when the funds are hopefully better I can go back for a more thorough job.

Thanks, it's been a lot of work so far, but at least she dosent smell like @40yr old dirt and oil now.
I love dring her! just wish the NEW started would have held up longer!
