Anyone have any person experience with the repro center console?

When I do the bucket seat conversion to the truck, I'd like to add a stock style center console. I've been looking at the Procar seats but the seat mount bracket mounts like a bench seat, running in one piece from door to door. Not sure how you'd get a console in there since the stock style ones mount to the floor, but I'd probably figure something out.

I realize the reproduction consoles don't exactly look like a period correct console (cup holders instead of seat belt buckle slots, etc.) but they are certainly easier to find than a good original and much more affordable. Anyway, I wonder if anyone here has one and what they think about the looks, construction and usefulness of them. The listing at LMC says they are polyethylene and shouldn't be painted and they only come in black. I'm planning on a saddle interior so that in itself might be a show stopper. I have to wonder if the vinyl dye sprays might work on polyethylene?

If anyone has any photos of one installed, especially if installed with Procar seats, please post them up.

I put a blazer console in mine when I did a junkyard seat swap. Mounted the whole thing on a sub frame I had to make. Did a write up for just this kind of thing, if you are interested.

Not really reproduction, but sounds sort of like what you are describing.

That's great and your set up looks similar and looks good. I suppose mounting the console on the seat frame wouldn't be a bad thing as it raises it from the stock type height thus making it more available as an arm rest. I was also thinking of having the lid upholstered to match the seats and if I were to paint the console I could leave the cupholder area black since it would get heavier use and without paint wouldn't end up showing chips and scratches that might come from use.
