Re: Wickid 54 build

Thanks guys. The fun part is making the driver side look like the passenger. I am thinking of mounting the taillights in the stake pockets right above the transition piece. It would be a half circle, I marked it on the stake piller, you can see it in the pictures i posted. not sure if I should hide them or make a bezel around the lenses to give it some kind of texture.

Re: Wickid 54 build

Well my taillight Idea got squished, I maid a template out of some Lexan and placed it on the bed and I immediately said I hate it so on to a new Idea. Got the passenger side of the bed all tacked up just need to find a magical mirror to duplicate the work to the driver side. Also got the truck recognizable as an AD truck, not a multicolor fiasco. Got the frontend hung with some adjustable supports so I can fine-tune the placement before making the core support. Trimmed the mounting flanges of the finders due to raising the mounting point of the fenders on the cab. Looks a little weird with a 3” cowl hood on it but I will fix that soon enough.

Re: Wickid 54 build

When I was putting the firewall back in the truck I took advantage of this by moving it back 3” to help with weight distribution. Placing the hood the truck really gives you a good prospective how far that actually is.

Re: Wickid 54 build

I had a few hours today and a junk hood laying around. To give me a better perspective on the way the hood should fit I cut it up and tacked it on. The look that is achieved is perfect. The next hood will be executed a lot better than this one but here she is.

I love your work/updates. That cut down hood looks killer. You should post the side shot pictures next to each other showing how much difference there is between the hoods.

Thanks Ricott, That’s a good Idea to see how the truck is progressing.

Re: Wickid 54 build

I took a piece of duct tape ran it around the hood and cut it. Tack welded the hood back together against the cab section and laid the metal back on the bottom section in the front. I was surprised how close the hood fits with no real modification other than one relief cut. The other hood I have will be more precisely done. Thinking of using the shrinker on the bottom section to pull the metal back rather than relief cuts. When I do the second hood I will try to build a tortorial and step by step direction on doing it if you guys think it would be helpful?

Re: Wickid 54 build

I am going to do a few things to the old one before I do the good one. The back of the hood is together but the front section is about a 1" apart. Going to play with this a little bit more. I will keep you posteded.
