Onto the next task which was connecting the Lokar shift linkage from the trans to the shifter, runs through all the gears and no interference.

Finally I could start cleaning up the dash and getting the Dakota Digital gauges put in place.

Looking good, you're on the home stretch. I am envious of your progress!

Duncan, there's not much to be envious of...there were so many obstacles and setbacks from this thing. Nothing on this was easy, if there were 4 bolts to replace, 1 would strip and I'd lose another...that's been typical on this thing.

I'm pretty stoked to be able to sit in the truck and start it up though. I've been double checking things and crossed off 90% of the items on my punchlist. The couple items that are left, don't keep it from driving.

I'm looking forward to this weekend as I'm going to load this up and take it to the C10 Intervention show that's going on in Nor Cal. I didn't have time to get it road ready, so I'll focus on that after I get back from the show. I will be able to back it off the trailer and drive it into the show.

Before I could finish the rear brake lines, I had to have the rear end gone thru. I got new seals and bearings, there was fluid leaking from the pinion. Also I got a new kit to make the rear brakes new.

Pulled the axle and got it cleaned up, painted and made new again.

Then it was time to fish it back under the truck which was difficult, thanks to the fuel tank in the way.

Also, the back set a little high for me, so on top of the 6" lowering springs I added a 1" drop block

lownslw64, thanks for the props. I'm really eager to drive it with the swap and just enjoy the reliability and have fun.

I'll be sure to keep an eye out for your build at the show.

I heard there was a cruise on Sat, know anything about that?

Yes, there is a cruise on sat from 2-5 and if your registered it tells on the paperwork you received about were you start and end. Then at night there is a mixer they call it at crooked lane brewery after the cruise. Let me know if you need the start and end point of cruise and I can check on my paperwork when I get home and give it to you.

Re: Project El Viejito, '66 C10 LWB BBW Build

This message is for LH Lead Foot:

It won't let me send the message because you're at max capacity for messages.

Good morning LH, I apologize for the delayed response. I haven't logged in here in a while. My 66 is lowered about 4/6 and I used the GM oil pan for F Bodys that I purchased from Dirty Dingo. There was no dipstick hole on my particular block for the dipstick. I had to drill a hole thru a provision on my block, I can't remember the size of hole I had to drill, but I found the information online. I believe I had a thread on here regarding that.

My engine is a pullout from an 03 Envoy, it's the aluminum block/heads. So my original oil pan had the hole thru it for the 4wd axles and the sump was at the front. I needed to purchase a new oil pan anyway. My plans are to eventually have the truck on airbags, so the F body works perfect for that.

I also purchased from Dirty Dingo their LS adapter plates that have 4 different engine placement locations.

Here are the part numbers for both items I bought from Dirty Dingo, hope it helps.

1 x Complete Oil Pan Swap Kit for LS1 Camaro / Firebird (F-Body) (DD-LS-OP-CAM) = $349.99
1 x Dingo Double-D 3/8 Steel LS Adapter Plates (DD-LS-DOUBLE-D-S) = $59.99

Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll help if I can.

Thanks a lot Old Soul, I haven't checked my thread in a while, so it's behind on updates.

I was able to trailer the truck to the C10 intervention show last September (which was my goal). Now the truck is legal and I've been driving it around and enjoying it like I always wanted.

I'll try to update this thread with more photos, but here's a picture from a few weeks ago rolling into a show.

Re: Project El Viejito, '66 C10 LWB BBW Build

The small things I done to the truck lately are added hinges and latches to remove the chains for my tailgate. I temporarily added a roll pan to the bed. The front end now has a POL sway bar and I've started changing out all the weather stripping.

Up next on the to-do-list is to put a bed floor back in, as it's currently totally open.

Right on, awesome picture! That can't be the only one ya got!!

Also, what size rubber did you end up with?

Love the look.. I'm working on installing a similar drop right now.. 4.5/7 but sticking with 20s, those 22s do look killer though! Wish I could find a set of transits, they're tough to find. Where'd you score your set from? I've tried several dealerships near me and none sell them because of a core price. I've even asked what their core price was and if they'd be willing to sell me a set if I paid their core price, no dice.

I have a couple more pictures from the shows I've taken it to. Here's a couple pictures from the 1st show it went to, the C10 Intervention show outside Sacramento. My goal was to get the truck back together and make it to the show and I accomplished that goal.

As for my truck's setup, my stance is just like yours. I'm running a 2" lowering spring in the front and 2 1/2" drop spindle. In the rear I'm running a 6" lowering spring and 1" block. I'm running a 265/35/22 on all 4 corners, I wanted as much sidewall as possible without too big a diameter wheel.

As for my transit wheels, I bought them off a Instagram user in Canada who was selling some and I had him bore out the centers to be able to rotate the wheels from front to back. I've heard the same about the wheels being hard to come by, especially straight from dealers. There's a couple guys on Instagram who are still selling some.

Love the look of the rims and it appears you have spurred at least a couple of us to do close to the same. I have seen this before, but it was on a harley, but the idea is great. I love white walls, but hate the upkeep, cost and such, so i am looking at Summit. I too have looked for 22" transits and damn, no good, but 20" are offered at summit. They have 20x9 with 4.75" backspace and 20x8.5 with 3.75" backspace. What size are your rims? I could not see what width they are. 22" dia i got.

Thanks 88Stanger, that is exactly the reason I went this route. I wanted to avoid all the upkeep and I had a budget to get this truck back on the road. I wanted to originally run 18" Detroits with a wide white wall tire from Diamond Back, but it was well over $2k and would've killed my budget. Like I mentioned earlier, I found a user on Instagram who was selling them and was able to bore out the centers before shipping for a fee.

I believe the transits are 22x9, the 265/35/22 fits the rim perfect, but maybe somebody else could verify that. I couldn't even tell you the backspacing, as they only come 1 way unless they are modified, which they weren't. I do know that they are almost the perfect backspacing if the truck gets bagged. The rears clear the bedside and the fronts are tucked in nicely.

If I ever take the wheel back off, I'll measure the backspacing and post it here.
