Re: My 86 build

Should get to go home Saturday, Jan 18th. Still working on a diagnosis, but they are leaning towards MS, become of the spots on the brain. Also had the gallbladder removed, which tore the hell out of my gut. Wasn’t eating for a whole
month and lost about 25 lbs and collapsed in the bathroom. They think I had a very mild stroke or seizure.
Time to get better, I miss working on Big Red!! And I miss my own bed!

We did, the timing was perfect. It was about 50 degrees then. My parents said we had about 1/2” of ice on everything, from the night before & that morning. But I would have stayed in a Hotel, if we couldn’t have made it home, lol. I wasn’t staying there another night, no matter what!! Can’t complain about the food though. The big Cafe downstairs had pretty damn good food.
We had a lot of broken branches from the ice!

tkcr,
very glad you are getting better.... although I don't think I have ever heard anyone "brag" about hospital food!! I would like your thoughts on the "replacement dash pad" that LMC sells? I am looking to replace mine and I am interested in it. the video that kevin tetz does seem to look pretty good & appears to fit good? this is going to be a daily driver, but I want it to look nice as well. your thoughts & opinion are appreciated and valued...

I said the Cafe food, not the food they bring to your room. Believe me there’s a difference.
Stay away fro LMC and all the others that build them on a urethane frame, they will eventually warp.
USA1 Industries is the only place that builds them like the originals, on a metal frame. They will also dye them to match. They have all the correct colors. LMC has 3 genetic colors that will not match. The black will, but I would still stay away from them. USA1 will be more money, but you get what you pay for. Your paying a lot anyways, so go for the best. They are in the $300 range and they have one, that’s in the $500 range, it comes with all the trimmings. The wait time will be long. They are a small business that is having a hard time keeping up with demand. But it’s worth the wait. I waited on my door panels for 2 months. But everything I have goodness from them has been good quality. Check YouTube, USA1 has a lot of videos, they have their own page or whatever they call them on YouTube.

Re: My 86 build

I’m going to chime in and tell you that TK is totally correct. Even the Cheyenne dash pad is now over a plastic base. It’s nice, but the USA1 stuff is absolutely phenomenal. They’re slow as HE77, but totally worth the money & wait. Promise!

Here’s a video that USA1 did on the dash pad. It’s mostly just giving pointers for the Install.

Yes be patient. They are a small business that is having a hard time keeping up with all the orders that are flooding in. They do all their own building of the dashes and door panels that get fully built with all the trimmings. They also do all the dyeing of all the plastic parts that get color matched for your trucks interior. And all the colors, will match. And they have all the colors, not just 4 generic colors, like the other places have.

I’m not sure, you’ll have to call them and ask them. I’m sure they can, since they dye everything themselves, in house. Plus to do custom colors.

Well I tell you, this illness is kicking my butt. Today I went out just too looks at my truck. I got so weak and shaky, I had to come back in from the garage, and sit and rest. So here sits my truck waiting to be put back together

Re: My 86 build

UPDATE!! Finally got a Diagnosis. It is a rare autoimmune disease, Doctor says I’m a 1 in a million. It is called
Autoimmune Glial Fibrillary Acidic
Protein Astrocytopathy. It’s a mouthful. It is rare, there really isn’t anything on the internet about it.
Last week, doctor had put me back on Steroids, and they are helping. I’m probably at about 60%. So I stay on these for about 3 months and then wean off, and then see how I do. I may have to take them longer if the symptoms return.
Now the bad news is, I have to be watched very closely for cancer. They checked all that when I was in the hospital, so we are ahead on that, no cancer was found. If it does show up, we have a jump on it!! The other thing I need to watch closely is getting pneumonia.
Total weight lost over the 3 months,
30lbs. And I hope to keep it off and maybe a little more. Taking Steroids can make you gain weight.
Sunday 2-23 was THE 1st day in 3 months I could actually get out of the chair and do a little something. I took some truck parts that I had piling up in the garage, out to my seat shed. Took about a half a dozen trips, back & forth. I took it slow and it took about 3 hrs. It felt good to get out and get some fresh air. It was sunny and in the 50’s. So Steroids are my wonder drug!! Can’t wait till I’m back to 100%.

Thanks guys, I’m still taking it slow. I tire out easily and my body tells me when it’s time to rest! I have been reading a lot of posts, and been on FB groups too. But nothing have been very interesting. I really don’t care to be on the FB Groups, people on there can be rude sometimes.
Thank you for all the kind words, I really appreciate it!

Re: My 86 build

I did get my seatbelts swapped out awhile back. I had aftermarket belts for about 5-6 years now. I found a decent set of OEM Charcoal belts a few years ago, just been waiting for the right time to get them swapped.
I throughly cleaned the belts and then dyed all the plastic. They turned out better than expected.

Re: My 86 build

Before I put the door panels back on, I’m going to replace the original plastic cover that is no longer there. Another forum member used this on his build, so I’m going to try it too. You can get this stuff at Lowe’s. Stay turned for pics & updates.
