Re: My crewcab 4x4 cummins project

well ive been getting a little bit of work done lately...i got mt crossover steering in that i picked up from northwest fab in BC....very nice kit it deletes the springs over the king pins...swaped the 4wd box out to a 2wd unit...also started shaving the fuse box hole in the dash. Im going to put the box under the dash n run the wires for the lights n horn threw the inside of the fender and the wires for the engine will come out behind the motor to keep things a little cleaner...

Well the front I ordered full rockers for a regular cab n the back I got slip ons for the front and trimmed them down to fit ... I got a set of them ones that come bare steel but the bent edges were to sharp and look way different then the factorY bends so I sent those back.

Re: My crewcab 4x4 cummins project

It is a lot like my truck I have a 1984 Crew Cab with cummins Nv4500 Trans and 205 transfercase that has 2005 Silverado Seats in it I love the cummins pretty simple to put in. i should do a thread on it when I get time I am working on interior trim right now and have to do body and paint but I have no rust on the truck

Re: My crewcab 4x4 cummins project

well im going to get back to work on the old truck... friend of mine has a small shop he rented and were gonna split it and get back to the old beer drinkin n car/truck building... i recently sold my 86 short box...pretty much gave it away but now its time to get back at the crew.... i picked up a ratty short box for 200 bucks so i can get the frame chopped... also may as well fit the cut out flares on rusty fenders before i cut up good ones... ill be working on alot of steel fab work for now including a set of steps wheel well to wheel well... also i wanted to put stacks in but opted away from it so i plan on fabbing up a headache rack with 5" stacks built in to it... the point of the build is to be heavy duty... also going to change up the front bumper a little bit...

QUESTION... 4x4 guys what is the minimum shaft length i can use between my transmission and divorced 205... reason being ide like the make the rear drive shaft angles a little less drastic with the big lift...i was tinking on going down to about a 4-5 inch shaft...

looking forward to getting back at the old truck nd all the feedback. it will be a week or two before i get it moved over to the shop ..

Re: My crewcab 4x4 cummins project

Glad to hear it!!

I don't think there is a minimum length, as long as you have enough angle to keep the u joints lubed...

Re: My crewcab 4x4 cummins project

well truck should be moved this coming weekend... cant wait to get back at it...picked up a short box for it and a friend of mine has a 76 parts truck so i took the hedlight bezels and grill trim. lower filler panel since mine was bent a bit. got the gaugle bezel out of it being it was a 6.2 it had the wait to start light so it will work nice in mine... also took the rear slider window and a few misc things... ive never seen one until now but it had factory buckets and consol and they were mint shape but already been spoken for...

also im into motorcycles and own a 06 victory king pin and decided to freshen it up over the winter with some new bits and pieces that are seeing some wear, also repainted and airbrushing started... thought ide share a few pictures of the bikes art so far...

Re: My crewcab 4x4 cummins project

yeah pretty excited to get back at it....and no im not doing the airbrushing on my bike... good friend of mine is doing it... shes been airbrushing for a long time and her husband does auto body... only thing i did was shave the licence plate mounts off the rear fender and the body work so it will be smooth as glass. its a good test to see if i want to get her to do some stuff on my truck...lol yeah shes going to do it to when it comes time
