Re: My 63 Chevy C10 project

Well I got new lowering springs on the front 2" drop with a coil cut, and changed all the fluids in the trans and diff, topped off the oil and coolant and took an hour drive Palouse for the rat rod show today. Lots of fun and the truck got lots of love. Rides like a Cadillac now, and cruises awesome at 65!

Re: My 63 Chevy C10 project

So I picked up this sweet gauge cluster and did a little restoration on it. It seems these little gems are hard to come by for a reasonable price. I picked this one up at a yard sale for $30 along with the rearview mirror. Both were in pretty bad shape but I brought them back to life. The truck has the deluxe gauge cluster in it but the only thing that works correctly is the turn signal indicator and brights indicator. The speedo works ok but seems to buzz every once in a while. I'm assuming I need to grease the cable. I'm thinking I may have a grounding issue for the rest of the gauges since they worked before I removed it to clean out the cob webs. Anyways if it comes down to me having to use this cluster would I just have to remove the deluxe harness and install the harness from this warning light cluster? It has the temp gauge so I will still use the temp probe on the manifold... But the deluxe cluster only has one shared turn indicator light for both left and right, while the standard cluster has two.. Will it work correctly with the swapped harness?

Another pic you can see a little damage around the trim from being banged around but have a nice one to put on if this one is used

The truck sure looks good! I was a helitack crew member for LA County back in the mid-seventies. Stay safe.

Awesome! I work with helitack every day! Thanks for the compliment. The truck has a long way to go, and is about to be parked for new floor boards and rockers and maybe some fender work.

Great Color picture. Family just enhances the look of the truck.

If you're going to be home, you should bring your truck up to CDA for the Car d'Lane cruise Friday night and the car show on Saturday.

Re: My 63 Chevy C10 project

Got her all shined up for another car show in lewiston. Wow she got a lot more attention than I had expected. Everyone loves it the way it is. I'm having a hard time with that. I don't know wether to leave it or fix it...

Her hind end... It took about 8 hours to buff it out but she came out nice and shiny and smooth

I'm pretty happy with it as is, it's nice to get off work and just hopping in it without worrying about getting the new truck dirty. I'll at least get my new floors and rockers installed.. It would be super cool to find some original glenwood green fenders that weren't rotted. And that 327 needs a 4bbl! Having a hard time finding an I take manifold with the oil filler neck.. I might be able to mill out an edelbrock performer, I think they have the flat spot where the bore is usually located. But need to find a used one to test it out.. Can't loose the corvette valve covers!

Re: My 63 Chevy C10 project

Finally did the 4 bbl swap. Runs awesome and strong! Found heater delete plates an origanal rear view, and a radio delete plate. It's coming together! Rides like a dream now with all new front suspension including springs shocks tie rod ends ball joints control arm shafts and body mounts in the front. Wow what a difference that made. She also got new shocks and springs in the rear. Now I just need to find front fenders and bedsides to start the winter body work.
