You're wrong TBSS uses the same intake as the 07+ trucks. As for a cam for a 4.8l anything over a 224 duration is huge.

Re: Any cam love for a NA 4.8?

Tbss intakes will fit any ls cathedral port head. Tbss motor is an ls2. L92's are 6.2's with rectangle port ls3 style heads. When I'm on r&r I do ls swaps for a living...

They will work on '01.5-06 as well you just can't use drive by wire unless you swap the whole harness and throttle pedal assembly

The ms3 is probably not the best choice, it's a high rpm cam meant for top end hp. If you are looking for low end to mid range tq I would recommend the texas speed torquer v.2 with like a 112 LSA. You running stock heads??? They have a package that comes with dual springs and push rods. A good friend of mine was driving a full size chevy extended cab with a 4.8 100 shot and a cam. It made plenty of torque on motor and was pretty quick on the spray too. You can change the internals etc if you want but a cheap easy upgrade is a cam swap. Texas speed will tune for your mods also. IT's like $150 and you send them your computer. takes 3-5 days to get it back.
Well, this thread is a bit old, but essentially, this will be a DD. I've got about an 18 mile commute one way to work and 2.5 of that is on dirt/washboard roads to my house. Trying to use the K5 instead of my newer vehicles to save wear/tear on the suspension and interior bits. I already have the 4.8 so originally I was thinking I could eek out a bit more from it, but as others have said, a decent set of headers and a tune will be ahead of the 350 that is in it now. So I'll probably just leave well enough alone. If I do feel the need to go bigger later, I'll skip the LS family entirely and go right to the 8.1. FWIW this 4.8 has the 243 heads.

the 243 heads are a huge gain over stock heads. i would spend the $500 and do a cam swap, ls engines love em. i would go with a 212/218 low lift comp cam, lunati voodoo 212/218, lunati 212/216, comp cams 206/212 cam, vinci 210/218 "towing and performance" cam, with ls9 valve springs. if you don't plan on spinning over 6k then the stock pushrods will be fine. with any of these cams, you will make plenty of low end and see significant gains throughout the rpm range.

Yea they will fit a 99-06 also but if you have dbc you will need an adapter or an aftermarket throttlebody.

My guess is that your motor is 07+ or someone added the 243 heads later. where are the knock sensors(side of the block or valley) The 8.1 is not the way to go unless you are putting it into a boat. The after market is geared to the boating market an expensive. The 6.0 will beat an 8.1 hands down. What transmission are you planning to run?

Re: Any cam love for a NA 4.8?

Currently I am running a 224/228 580/580 lift cam in a 4.8. Motor is in a 69 c10. Has a great sound and idles fine in stop and go traffic. In my opinion ( and everybody has one) I would not go 8.1. The LS family makes good power and parts are easily obtained. Good luck with the choice.

Careful guys..gotta be specific which 07+ trucks and engines you're talking about.

The 07+ 6.0L trucks with the LY6 and L76 had the "L92" head also, not just the 6.2s.

When the 496 Mag HO (8.1) in my boat finally bites it, it's getting a boosted LS of some sort

Big block junk? Ain't nobody got time for dat!

It is an 07+, IIRC the knock is on the side. Though it has been awhile since I looked at it.

We were specifically speaking of the tbss 6.0 in which he referenced the L92. So in reference to TBSS 6.0's, yes they were only offered with a cathedral port head.
