Re: 73-87 LS Swappers

Ok! just got off the phone with a rep at Trans-Dapt and he said that i can purchase motor mount adapter plates, part number 4572 from any one of their retailers

And that will allow me to use a passenger car a/c compressor in the stock location. Unless i find or some one suggest a better yet cost effective solution looks like i will be headed in that direction with this as my back up plan

that plate looks like it mounts the motor in the stock sbc location, and is no gaurantee a low mount compressor would work. I'd think the ECE setup would have the best chance of that, but couldn't say for sure. there's a high mount setup like that for the truck accessory drive if thats what you already have. ScogginsDicky sell you the bracketry and the compressor for like $400 something.

I think you can also move the RH frame mount bracket back 3/4" and it will clear the A/C compressor, allowing you to use the factory compressor mounting (on a 73-87 truck).

Them mount plates move the engine forward 1.25 inches. I bought a set thinking they did keep Factory Location then i bloted them up and mesured and found they lied. Was very up set. Am looking for different mounts now after ordering the 4572s.

Re: 73-87 LS Swappers

I made my own adapters out of plate aluminum, used the stock 5.3 accessories, and off the aftermarket shelf a/c fittings... a/c's blowing constant 45*... docsblocks.com has made the adapters after I kept bugging them it seemd like.

Re: 73-87 LS Swappers

do long tube headers on a LS swap bottom out as they do with a small block? I'm looking to lay my frame with air bags in the future and I recall dragging collectors with just a 6" drop in the front. Should I consider mid range tubes? I will not settle for shorty headers.
