Re: $2200 to swap in a 700r4? (Utah)

look at using a upgraded 200R4 built by a shop to replace the 350 trans - both same length.

I will second the 200r4 as well. Better gearing, similar to the stock th350 and th400, but with overdrive. The 700r4's first gear will be extremely low with your rear gearing.

Yeah we're around. You can only google 67-72 stuff for so long before you realize all the info is right here.

Going to expose my naiveness, but what is the 2004R? Will it be a pretty straight forward swap like the 700r4?

Google is your friend - search phoenixtrans.com and click on Faq's - this good company is in Weatherford, TX - other sites can give you the info you are looking for too.

Thanks for the insight! I did just that, found the same website. I am now searching our forum to better understand if my the 2004r will mesh will with my soon to be 350 sb crate engine, and the 32.2 tires I want to eventually run.

Any insight would be appreciated

Mahalo!

Thats good to know. What year are you running? Why did you have to swap the cross members?
Mine was a straight drive, the automatic cross member is different.

Not sure if you have to move your auto crossmember for the 700r4.

Not sure what year it is, I ordered it from Bowtie Overdrives...I have had it for 11 years.

I had Phoenix install a 700 in my 67.A professional install with warranty is the only way to go in my opinion.I was just over 2200 on my install but worth every penny when I jump in and go for a cruise. In the end it's all up to you and what you are comfortable with spending.

Thats what i have been reading and hearing from some other people. Dont want to get into a parts scavenger hunt, just like I do every time I look at my rear drums.

-- if you are dealing with a pro shop they will have what you need in stock, or locate one to build for you. what are you hunting for as far as rear drums go? NAPA and others carry drums, etc
