Don't the ovens get up to 400º?

If the block is disassembled, I don't see why it would be a problem.

Correct, Disassembled is the only way I would do either one. NIC Chevy Orange powder has a cook/cure time/temp of 400 degrees for 12 min. That is once the flow has began.

I have been eyeballing the Summit Racing powder gun kit for a few months now. I am glad I stumbled across this thread. Now I have other sources to get it from.

i was lookin in the latest edition of Truick Builder mag, and the guys building up one of the trucks powdercoated everything on the frame VW Red, and apparently sent everything - including the fully assembled rear axle with gears and all - in for powdercoating. crazy?

I was thinking of having the metal strips in my bed powder coated...they are 103 inches long and about 1.5 inches wide. How much yall reckon that would cost to have done?

I'm guessing 15-25 bucks per strip. They wouldn't fit in my oven...80" is max.

Took the day off from spraying bed liners and came into work to do this Edelbrock 2927 BBC manifold. It was first coated in Columbia's Single Stage Chrome and then shot with a good coat of Super gloss clear. I had to put the 1050 Dominator on there just to see how it's going to look. Saving up for my heads!

sears also has one, It seems to work fine we did some powder coating in when I was in school and all of it turned out nice, pizza tastes a little funky after you powder coat in the oven tho

Chrome and clear are both powder.

Process:
One good coat of powder single stage chrome, cook at 385 degrees for 10 min, remove from oven, when manifold gets back to 140 degrees "hot flock" mainfold with a good coat of the clear powder and return to the 385 degree oven for 20 min. Remove , cool, done.

Yes, I sure am, not thinking anymore...I have added it. I did a very large blower and some Holley dominator bowls for Smith Racing, the guys that built my 496. Spray-in Bed Liners and Powder Coating.

Those cailpers done in powder coating have any cons over just ceramic coating them?

ChevyDude, have you tried the other diffusers(I think that is what the cones that screw onto the rod are called) that come with the kit? Also, have you tried powder coating bare, cast aluminum with a clear powder...I am wondering how that would turn out?

Well if I am not mistaken Ceramic coating takes a very hot oven and seeing I am set up for Powder oven max of 550 degrees Ceramic was not an option. I wanted some color on the calipers anyway so they will be seen through the wheels.

If you read on the Caswell board there is a way to "hotrod" the hobby gun. File this and that, drill a few extra holes for powder/air, and remove the defuser. I have done all this to my gun and it seems to work really well. The trouble with PC guns is ...you either spend 100-200 on a decent hobby style gun that will work very well.......or you spend $4000.00 on a Pro model, there really is no inbetween. So for now I am using a hobby gun from Caswell.

Bare cast aluminum. Should be no problem. I just did my BBC manifold, but did it in Single Stage Chrome before the clear....but to just shoot it in clear would be no biggie. Sometimes with cast aluminum you need to "OutGas" it prior to PCing it. OutGas= cook and an elevated temp to remove trapped gas before you coat it with anything.
