Need New Shocks for Lifted 4x4- What do I buy?

So I am restoring my 72' chevy and the BDS Suspension shocks on it are shot.
I am interested in Skyjacker or Rancho, I'm not sure what to buy. If anyone has experience with replacing shocks for a lifted 4x4 please shed some light on this unknown topic. I believe it is a 6" suspension lift dual 26" shocks in front and 2-29" shocks in back and of course a 3" block lift
Please, HELP!!!!!

Do the bds shocks have a part number? if so start from there. Contact the companys that you listed . find and price new shocks .

I have been looking at Bilstiens and the 5100 or 5150 series is lookin good. There is another one called BBCS, polyperformance.com hasum...I don't realy want to spend 400+ on shocks. I heard the ProComp shocks are kinda stiff, like a Monro...

Subscribed!

I have a Rancho 4" kit and i hate the ride, springs are stiff and the shocks are RS5000, not the adjustable dampening, from what the local 4X4 places say there are way better shocks than what i have. i would call around to some specialty shops and see what they reccomend for your application.

I went with Bilstein 5150's. Here is where I ordered from. They had the best prices that I could find by far plus free shipping.

The lift info is in the first post here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=413741

That website I posted for the shocks lists the colapsed and extended lengths of the shocks. You should measure and see what will work best for your truck.

I think my front ones are the part# BF5-A196-H1 and the rear are part # BF5-A187-H1 but I would have to check to be absolutely sure.

I wouldn't just order the same shocks just because someone else ordered them.. But i understand why you posted that, just wanted to know tha lift hight and shocks you have to get an idea cause i like what you have, it looks great.

I looked at the thread and noticed your springs have slipper pads on each leaf, are these springs Tough country by skyjacker? Just want to be sure. I have been contemplating replacing my spings someday with better stuff than the Rancho stuff i have, but figure i'll try new shocks first.
