My Late 70's C10 Build

Just going to start a small thread on the process of building my truck. Unfortunately i really do not have many photos of my build. I did all the work myself with the help of friends and my father of coarse but i was also in high school and documenting my work has never been much of a priority for me as i just let the craftsmanship speak for itself. Im no pro but i love to learn and do it all myself.

Another view of the truck. this time showing that i stole some doors from a 1989 suburban that i used as a parts truck so i could have electric widows and locks for dirt cheap. Later i Stole the 383 stoker i had put into it with my father.

A very rare picture of my daily driver before i ripped into it to build my c10. thinking back the suburban could have been an equally as cook build but it wasn't as old as the truck and it was 4wd

Re: My Late 70's C10 Build

So some history behind the truck the photo is kinda funny. This is the only photo of the truck in its original form. This is my mother, father, and oldest sister as a baby back in the 80's . My parents are the original owners of the truck. my dad bought the truck new in southern California when they lived in Santabarbera. I still have the dealership paperwork in the truck with my fathers name on it. This truck is pretty special to me because me and my father spent so much time working on it together and it is now a second generation family vehicle. Now hopefully i will have a son to pass it down to and maybe even rebuild it again with him. This is also the first vehicle i drove when i was a kid and my father would put me in his lap and i would steer the truck through the neighborhood. Eventually it was burning oil like crazy and lost the trans. So it started sitting. 7 years later some time when i was in high school i got in a fist fight and got suspended from school for a while. Abd that is how this whole project started. my second day into suspension at home and i was board out of my mind. so i went outside drug the truck from its the back field grave and started tearing it down one piece at a time. i had no idea what i was doing i just new i needed to work on something to get my frustration out. Another funny instance that had happened years earlier was when the truck had been parked for only a couple years i was still vary young i started taking the truck apart with my dads tools. he saw me in the back field and yelled at me to stop. i don't think he knew at the time how much i wanted to work on cars and get that truck running again.

Re: My Late 70's C10 Build

These next photos basically skip all the body work i did to get the truck straight as i could given i had no prior body work experience. What photos mainly dont show is that i removed all the badges , drip rails , and most of all my favorite part that goes massively unnoticed even by most c10 guys in the fact i filled in the cab seem where the roof was bonded to the cab from the factory. i filled this in and got it as straight as possible. apparently so well so one can tell a seem was ever there.

Re: My Late 70's C10 Build

starting this truck project so young i could never decide which route to take. i wanted to drag race it but i wanted to lay frame as well. so it kind of became the worst of both worlds lol.. low as i could get it mind you im on a college student budget at this point in time , and as much power i could squeeze out of my motor, which i later blew up lol
