Re: Hub Nut

wha tdo you not think is right about it?

its a big nut and the torque will have zero effect on it becuast it is a unit bearing. its more to keep the shaft from falling out and the bearing would subsequently fail with out the shaft in place. you could torque it to 200 if you want.

Re: Hub Nut

do not over torqe it if you do it will bind the bearing up and will fail do as the specs say. i have a 91 s-10 blazer 4x4 with a 350 in it and hade to replace the wheel bearing on it and i over torqed it and drove it two weeks and it went out . thay make manual to prvent people for making more problems for them selfs and so they dont fork out more money then they have to

Re: Hub Nut

how is that possible?

the stub shaft buts up to the inner drive hub. you must have damaged the bearing on install.

Re: Hub Nut

no it can happen. the bearing is pressed in to the back of the hub housing and the front of the hub with the wheel studes is pressed in to the center of the bearing leaven a 3/16 gap. so when you over torq it. it pulles the shaft up to the back of the hub will close the gap and smash the bearings. and will make it ware faster then it should. iv had 6 of thes s-10s and iv leaned you dont mess a round you do as the specs say. its just like the bearings on the front 72 two wheel drive truck you put them in and torq them to spec if you over torq them thay tend to ware to fast so the 80 or so bucks you spent just went down the dran
