Ls swap/ 4l60e trans questions

I'm beginning my LS swap in my 1976 silverado this week but have run into a question. Since the new transmission will have overdrive will a newer truck indicator work on my guage cluster??? Has anyone run into this issue. Lmc sells a od indicator for a 84-90, will this work in my 76. Thanks

Re: Ls swap/ 4l60e trans questions

trans position indicator? Are you keeping a column shift?

The 80's piece you listed would be for the 700r4, so the positions would be the same as the 4l60e in terms of physical location. If the indicator is triggered by a cable or linkage, I'm sure something could be made to work.

On another note; since the 4l60e is computer controlled, you do have the option of using one of the aftermarket gear indicators, which is nice if you decide not to use a stock dash, but still want that function.

I'm keeping all my stock gauges and column shift in the current stock location and configuration.
