LS matted to a 700R4

Anyone have an LS matted to a 700R4? I currently have a newer ATK 350 (<2000 miles) crate in my truck with a built 700R4. I have my doubts about the ATK motor, it has been having some issues lately and I am convinced that there is something up with it.

I'll be doing a compression test, a coolant pressure test and if both of those come back good then I'll replace the manifold gaskets and attack the leaking front oil pan seal... but I am not confident in the results... so I was curious for any tips or pointers with matting up a 5.3 or 6.0 to a 700R4....especially if it retains the full fuel injection system.

Itll bolt right up with the proper spacer...the kickdown is a issue I've seen discussed
A better choice would be just to go with a 4l60... and sell what you got...then you would have a matched setup
But theres a lot of wrightups on ls1tech about the 700r4

Re: LS matted to a 700R4

If your using a LS computer you need the 4L65E to retain computer control.

The 4L60 was just a electric speedo added on a T700R4 vs a cable driven.

The kick down if you use a T700R4 or 4L60 will need to be dealt with. Even if you think you will do a full Manuel valve body.

Interesting...I’ll take a look at ls1tech and see how much of a hassle it is. I may opt for a bbc for an easy swap. Thanks for the info.

Re: LS matted to a 700R4

4L60e is also computer controlled.

That's what I have with my 5.3. I was cursing during the swap because I had a difficult time with it. Now that it's done I am happy I went through with it.

What's going on with your 350? Have you checked the gas tank for rust? If it's been sitting for a while that rust and debris will cause lots o' problems.

I'm a diy kinda person, but when I hit a wall I'll hire someone to get me passed that hurdle. It's better than getting frustrated and scrapping a project. Or usually cheaper than throwing parts at it. Just a thought.

Re: LS matted to a 700R4

If you going LS from 2006 and older? the LS computer will control the engine and the 4L60E. After that they have one ecm for the engine and one ecm for the trans. No real big deal tuning wise.
The 4L60E is so tuneable? Much better than the 700R via a laptop.
I know you have the 700R but a 4L60E would be a much better match to the LS.

Re: LS matted to a 700R4

The issue I see, is how to connect the 700R4's TV cable to the LS engine's throttle and getting the geometry correct. As already mentioned, a 4L60E or a 4L80E would be a much better choicer and much simpler to install and tune.
