LS motor mount advise

Not sure where to begin so here it goes. I have a LM7 in a 72 frame. I used Hooker plate adapter and the trucks original mounts/stands (not sure what they are called). Now I am trying to put a cast iron turbo log manifold (listed on eBay for a Silverado) and it looks like the motor is too low in the frame to clear the frame rails. My questions are:
will other motor mount systems out there mount the motor higher?
Has anyone on here used the cast iron turbo manifold off eBay?

The perches we’re in the frame as I revived it as a project from someone else. I assume they are the original but idk anything about this frame. Here are some close ups of the motor mount/perch/plate that I’ve used to get the motor in the frame. (Also, I needed to elongate the holes in the perches because the motor didn’t set all the way down far enough for the holes to line up.

I’m also including some images of a ruler in the top of the frame to show the height of the motor in the frame. I guess what I’m getting at is, if I want to use this manifold, the motor would have to move up. I’m curious of other perch/mount systems publish some reference to how high the motor will set using their system?

Second option would be to fabricate a mount to raise the motor and how good or bad that idea would be (the impact on drive line angles and such).

I really wanted to use this cast iron manifold 🙁

Those LS adapter plates have already raised the engine up from the stock location. That is the reason you have to elongate the holes to be able to install the engine mount bolts. If you raise the engine up more you are just going to complicate things even more. I suggest a different exhaust manifold. What is the application for the one you have?

I agree with cap ..try a different manifold....if you raise engine, then the trans has to come up.then the tunnel needs cut...etcetcetc....

The listing said the “application “ is for a Silverado or Tahoe (or equivalent).

This guy has a very similar manifold.

It is a fabricated one from KB performance. Mine looks to me like a copy of this manifold but mine is a single cast piece. From pictures of them both it’s very difficult to see difference in them (I get it that looking at pics is not precise measurements lol ).
His also looks like it is a tight fit at the frame rail and motor mount plate.

I haven’t seen a manifold that’s made specifically for an LS in a C10.

So, just to see how much it would take , I put some wood blocks under the mounts to shim the motor up. From what I can tell, it moved the motor up .75”. Now I can fit the passenger side turbo manifold. The stock driver side however had interference with the frame and flange. I want to put a V band on it anyway so I cut it off. Now i can see how much room there is with it actually in place.

Being designed for a Silverado or a Tahoe is the issue. The '88+ trucks have a wider frame in the engine compartment and use a different configuration of engine mount.

I used the same v8 perches and motor mounts (but poly urethane) with an adapter plate like yours and I didn't have to elongate holes. I did have to get creative to get the bolts in. The weight of the motor would make the bolt holes not line up (perches to frame).

I also don't have turbo. I used a set of the trailblazer ss manifolds. I did grind one manifold a bit to get it to clear the perch on the passenger side.

So today is payday for me and so I’ve ordered these mounts off eBay. They are flat on top and also start to angle down off the top of the frame rail immediately. The factory mounts look to have more horizontal distance before they bend down to the cross member. The factory ones also have a “bump” formed in them that these don’t have. (See pics)
My hope is those things + new poly mounts will give enough clearance for the manifold.

So I got the Tin Works Fabrication motor mounts yesterday. These look awesome! I still need to get the poly mounts that these use so I haven’t tried to install but the welds and overall look I am very pleased with. I only chose these because I thought it would be easiest to modify if needed. (I figured I could weld another tube of the same size to the top of this one and it would raise the motor ). It would be a shame to modify them because they are so nicely designed and made.
Hopefully with the extra clearance I “think” these have over the factory, no modification will be needed.
