67 GMC tailgate ..am I priced too high?

I've had this tailgate on CL for a while and got no calls, its very straight. The latch seems to be frozen, so I am throwing in another beat up tailgate with a good latch

This has the small GMC logo that was 67-68 only, and I dont think it is repoped.

So is $375 too much for a straight sorta rare tailgate?

Re: 67 GMC tailgate ..am I priced too high?

Could be a bit high. Maybe drop the price $25. Problem most likely everyone is content on using a repop gate. Might try ebay and get what your asking with a reserve of $350. Might surprise you, more likely someone would want an original. Good Luck.

Re: 67 GMC tailgate ..am I priced too high?

Can you find a repop T-gate? I dont recall seeing them. Cant say I've looked for one either. How about fixing the latch and putting the gate in primer after a light sanding?

Re: 67 GMC tailgate ..am I priced too high?

I`d say any decent original tailgate is worth $200+/-.I have a new take-off I bought for $225 in mint condition.
Can you show a picture?Mine has trim and I don`t want any on mine and may be interested.

I 100% agree on fixing the handle and relisting...also try evilbay. I couldn't get any interest on here but sold it first try on ebay for 550 for my gate...it was perfect never installed, but yours being a GMC has demand for those looking for GMC.

Tim, mines got the trim too.

I guess I'll mess with the handle, The only thing about Ebay is shipping, I would be afraid it would get damaged.

I've been considering building a crate for it, but that would mean getting off my butt and doing something

Re: 67 GMC tailgate ..am I priced too high?

I just shipped mine in the cardboard box the repop ones come in. I added two blankets and bubble wrap and the buyer said it came in w/out a scratch or dent. Cost 75 shipping which I had posted in the ad.

I personally would say not to do that if the original paint is good/decent. People are suspicious of primer...think you've bondo'd it.

Re: 67 GMC tailgate ..am I priced too high?

Try Ebay as is.you are just selling a good solid tailgate.A new repro is just the shell.Let the buyer worry with it.I would let them ask about the mechanism.
My tailgate came from WI by Greyhound and he hauled it from CA when he moved and it`s pretty.I sent a n.O.S. gate to TX on the hound with no problems, too.
Good luck.

I was thinking the same thing I dont want it to look like i'm covering anything up.

I was thinking a plywood crate wouldnt be too hard to make, it might raise the shipping though because of the extra weight.

Yeah, I saw that ...sold for 800 bucks....I dont think I'm out of line with my price, my gate is probably as straight, just not as pretty.

Heres a pic of mine since the CL ad has expired

Re: 67 GMC tailgate ..am I priced too high?

I'd definitely throw that thing on ebay and see what happens...just make sure to put a reserve and make it's what you need/want including all fees and list shipping as 75-150 depending on how you'll ship...

And as far as being pretty, unless someone has the exact paint color 99% of the time they have to scuff and repaint and yours is basically as good as starting point as the other that sold.

That`s true as long as it`s obvious no body work was done and conceiled.
