Looking for, Side Steps,,,,

Thank's, for the responses, guys, I have tried those sites and parts dealers y'all have suggested to no avail. Any one know if side steps fromthe 73-91 Burbs can be retrofitted to my 71 Burb ?? Or any side steps at all ??

I' looking to find and/or buy "Side Steps" (tube steps, step rails ,nerf bars, etc.) For my 1971 GMC 4WD 'BURB'. Anybody know who makes them for my truck. My buddies and family are tired of jumping up to get into the truck!,
and I've gone thru several milk crates 'cause of the heavy weights !!!
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated,,,,,,Pat :

I've got the same problem and was hoping to see some good ideas on nerf step bars, etc... Maybe better to post on the 4x4 board knowing you would need to extend what they have.

OK, There are several on the market that are made as universal kits, Generlly the are the basic tube type, That would be the easiest way, I have the info on all types of after market componets at my shop, Let me know exactly what your lookin for and I will get you some info.

Or just find any that have the look you want, Park the truck on a 4 post lift, mock up the running board like you want it to fit, Break out the welding machine and fab up your own mounting, I like this because you can build it much stronger than most aftermarket companies do.
...If you are real handy and you have a friend that works at a Muffler Shop, You can also make some that are really nice ones, cheap! Once you have everything made and fit up, sand it real well, Prime it and Paint to match, Small flat pieces can be welded on top as steps, or if your truck sits pretty high, Make the step off of the botom....
The cool thing about doing it this way....If your good...You can get real creative.
If anyone wants me to Custom build them some, I can. It would be somewhat higher than after market ones, But you would have a custom 1-off look. Discribe what you want, and I will mock it up and build it to be a bolt on fit to your frame, Plus! I can Paint it to match your truck, or you can chrome it

R&R Leon,,,hey thanks for the great response to my dilemma!
As soon as I can get some measurements and pics done up, I'll PM ya. I would like the info you mentioned about the 'universal kits' you mentioned if you got the time.
