I remember those pumps. I would get out of the car and wtch those balls spinning around in that glass sight on the side of the pump. Used to fasinate me as a kid.

As a matter of fact, i just took that glass globe apart, 60 years of varnish in there! Amazingly there is a 2 vaned impellar with a spiral coned spring and a brass rod, thats what hits the balls to rotate them around. I always thought it was just the gas flow, now we can sit back as adults and say we know how the heck it works

Funny thing is i forgot all about the ding ding sound it made as you were fueling the car, dont know if i will hook that up as it might drive me crazy

Not sure if ill get rid of the patina or not, maybe just rechrome the 'ERIE' and couple of the other accent pieces and reglass it, call it a day. Oh yeah, and rehose it

Thanks for looking

Love the pump Jim. Good job. In my humble opinion, that free advertising ought to be worth a year's free board membership, right?

Re: PO has me PO'd

You have to untemper it to cut it and then retemper it, and you run the risk of it shattering in the process..

Re: PO has me PO'd

It can be done, it's just not as simple as just cutting plate glass, you have to make sure the glass shop is capable of doing it, not all are. The green Blazer glass would probably look great on that pump. I get where you are going with it.

You decide, or not!

Here is the story....
Bought my 1 1/2" spacers from a web site (name with held to protect the innocent, the facts mame, just the facts) as said by jack web, on dragnet

I told him that the acorn nuts wobble, and questioned him on the 10.9 metric stamped on the stud. I paid an extra 30.00, to have the studs changed to 7/16-20. He said"all our studs are marked with that, and indicate the hardness".

The problem is, i was raised before the metric system, so i can t question him. Does anyone know if in fact 10.9 converts into a rockwell number for hardness.

His lugnuts that i received also wobble on the studs. I ve been a machinist since hs (50years) and never felt a thread do that

Metric 10.9 is roughly equivalent to grade 8 SAE hardware.
If it's chinese, then all bets are off......most of that sh!t is junk...bad threads OD and ID

Re: PO has me PO'd

OK, just spoke to the above unnamed website company, they want to send out another set of studs. I ll wait, but doubt this will help.

My solution will be to buy quality studs and lug nuts, and rebore spacer to fit. I ll have to figure out what the nominal bore size is.....any idea?

Thanks, i ve got to build an adapter to go from corvette center cap to gmc poverty cap. My plan is to cut some of the lenght outta the center cap and make a flange to mount my poverty caps to. The center caps are slined in that area, so i can broach them and bore and thread the OD of the adapter to accept set screws to make a positive lock....

Can you draw up a Corvette center cap.....my son won t do any work for me unless i give him a drawing. He s an applications engineer. I don t want to bother him, as they just had my fifth grand child.

I ll send you the part if it will assist you

Nice stuff you got going on with your build

Re: PO has me PO'd

OK, final decision......5" wide beauty rings seemed to cover to much of the wheel, so, i bought 1 1/2" ribbed rings from wheels vintique, and center caps from hubcaps. com. The center caps are repop, so i don t feel bad about cutting a hole in them for the lock outs

1 1/2" spacers installed to even out the front and rear wheels....any thoughts on wheel spacers?

Final piece to convert my jimmy to the ultra rare corvette optioned blazer/jimmy....lol

So, you have no problems using them?

Sorry to see your truck get smashed, after all you did to the motor....

Nope, no problems at all. I tightened the lugs to the highest setting on my impact rather then the middle one.

Ok, i was going to use high strength lock tight on the spacer mounting lug nuts, and check torque often for a while
