Gas Tank Confusion

Well, it seems I've got an EEC tank, but without the EEC.

Does this look like a replaced tank? That's what I'm thinking because it's pretty clean, no rust.

Here are some pics:

There's also no charcoal canister, and no evidence that there was one.

Also, it's got a vented cap off of a....Ford The PO put that on, I'm going to find a factory one...

Thanks!

Re: Gas Tank Confusion

My 71 has a eec tank and has a vent hose from the filler tube to the top of the tank the rubber hose is about 4 inch long I do not see that on your first pic. Also the eec tank has a vent tube that goes up the passanger door pillar and comes back down and goes through the floor next to the line off the sending unit that runs up to the canister i did not see that in your last pic. that is not a eec tank

Re: Gas Tank Confusion

I've just wondered if the tank was replaced and nobody hooked the EEC lines back up though.

According to what I've read in catalogs, the EEC tank has a "bumpy" filler neck, which is what mine has.

your tank does not have the fittings soldered in the tank for the eec hook up

Re: Gas Tank Confusion

3/4 ton trucks did not get the emissions controls that 1/2 ton trucks did. A 71 half ton would have the eec lines and a smaller diam gas cap(non vented) while the C20/K20's and heavier did not.
