Hey guys - this is my first time trying to do upholstery and i have a few questions. I got my seat covers and foams new from PUI. These are for 1970 Blazer sport seats. I have attached the listing wires from the new covers to the seat foams but i have no definition in the bolsters. I have attached pictures of the seat bottom foam before and after i have attached the cover. Shouldnt the foam have more definition from the factory? it is nearly flat. Or is this what i get for buying PUI? I am nearly finished stretching the cover to the seat frame but dont want to go further if something isnt right. Any input is appreciated.

That looks pretty good, the only way to get more definition on the bolster is too add foam and Modify the vinyl.

Thanks for the reply. I actually reached out to a fellow instagrammer and he gave me some advice on tightening up the bolster attachment to the seat frame. Im not done with it yet but figured i would update.. its looking much better.

It looks to me like that one seam on the bolster is the culprit , the one in between the outer edge and where your listing wire is . I am not an uhpolster but did my 63 Impala buckets with PUI foam.I belive if that seam was not there it would be golden.That edge of foam should be right on top of outer edge seam of cover. It takes some messaging to get them to set with each other, grip pinch, pull, push. Good luck and good hog ring pliers are a must

I see you went with the dark saddle also. Yeah, I had a b!%#h of a time doing my seat covers also from PUI. I waited for ever to get the covers. Every one was out of stock of the saddle. Yours are looking good.

Did you use the paperclip things to attach the listing wires to the upholstery?

I tried to use the original ones but they were too brittle. So made my own from some extra listing wire.

You can buy them from Eckler's as Corvettes used them as well. A lot of guys use zip ties as well.

I used hog rings because I didnt want to make another trip to the store , all in all your seats look pretty good from here

I remember asking about the little paper clip thingys (I have recovered Corvette seats before) and was told there were none in the pickup truck buckets because the wire is embedded in the foam.

Mine has the paper clips. The upholstery was not original but the foam is, so I don’t know if they were put there by the factory or not.

My '69 buckets have the paper clips... always have. Here's a picture courtesy of Classic Bowties showing the under seat wires. If you look closely you can see the clips.

EDIT: Arrow points to one of the wires, not the clips.

It's been too long since I disassembled the seats, and like a dummy, I did not document the procedure. What do the paper clip things attach to on the upholstery? Is there supposed to be a wire or cord in the cover?

Yes, the clips would be connected to the listing wires
