Front brake lines
Anybody out there that has a 72 C10 with the front brake lines that are run in front of the wheel? Thanks

hi,if you're talking about the steel brake line that goes to the rubber flex hoses,it is on the front of the crossmember and that's where it should be.it's my understanding but i'm not postive, the drum brake trucks,1970 and back had that steel line behind the crossmember.1971 was the first year for disc brakes.

Hi, That is correct. I have a 72 and I got into an argument with a sales rep who sells aftermarket parts and was told that I have a 73 and up front crossmember under my truck. But I have been looking and could not find any pictures to back up with what my truck has. The steel lines to rubber hose in front of the wheel. Thanks

The problem that I have is the truck has been in pieces for more than thirty years and now I am finally starting to build it back up from square one . I have new brake line kit with no pictures of how it was or should be of the brake line routings, and I am some what stumped of how it should be, so this is where I am. In need of pictures or advice. Thanks

if nobody puts some pics on here for you i can put my truck on the lift tomorrow and make you some pics but as far as that front brake line,you should have a tab on each side of the crossmember, sort of right under the frame rails,at right angles to the crossmember.in the center of those tabs,you'll see a 6 sided hex where the end of flex hose goes in and the "U" shaped flat lock plate slides through and locks the hose in place.the other end of that hose is your caliper of course and through those tabs, that's where the front brake line is located.

I know how the front rubber hose to hard lines go, that’s a no-brainer. Like I said I have a bare frame and am doing new brake lines. So with the cab off it’s stumped me? If you could please take pictures from the master cylinder down, with pictures of around crossmember to the front brake hoses. Then the rear differential layout of lines, and also the rear center brake hose area. It would be very much appreciated. Thanks Chuck

If I remember right, the 72 and early have grease fittings for the upper a_arm, while the squares (73 up) do not. If your front end is somewhat together that may give you a clue.
Other thatn the positioning of the proportioning valve, I think things are pretty much the same for positioning.

Yes they have grease zerks on the a-arms, I don’t understand what that has to do with the brake line routings?

mine is 67 and if you zoom in, my brake tabs are in the front of the crossmember

I know that everything was 72, I have owned the truck since 76. It was driven till 84, which was completely tore down. And been in storage since. So now it’s getting a frame off.

The assembly manual has the routing detailed. Here are a few pictures of the front. The rear simply lays on top of the diff and tubs.

I have a CCP master and proportioning valve, the line routing is a little different than stock. I can get a picture if you like.

The front brake hoses on a 1973+ truck are significantly different from 71-72. The stationary end is attached to the frame rail instead of the crossmember, and then the middle of the hose attaches to the upper control arm.

My truck is definitely not stock anymore, I have CPP a-arms, modular spindles and using their master cylinder. So any pictures are more than welcome. Thanks
