Re: what is it worth

Probably post up pics so everyone can give a more accurate estimate.

Re: what is it worth

Well before the moderator gives you a slapdown for offering something for sale without being a paid supporting member without detailed photos and actual details not one of us have any idea.

Simple things to consider;
Clear title in your name?
Actual solid minimum rust truck or a rust bucket?
Dents and sheet metal work or replacement needed to make a decent truck out of it?

Condition of the frame and drive train?

We aren't trying to beat up on you but there is no possible way to give an honest estimate and then none of us in other parts of the country know what the market is in your area. Rust belt usually means if you have a solid AD that doesn't require a truck load of patch panels you can get a fairly decent price out of it just because of the work someone doesn't have to do.

Title or transferable paperwork on the truck and a current registration usually means that it will bring more just because of that even if it doesn't run. Especially if it goes out of state.

Re: what is it worth

if you just "have" the truck but don't know anything about trucks or that particular vintage/model, then I suggest going to a parts retailer online and check all the sheet metal parts sold for your truck. they sell these parts because they are common sellers, so those parts are common rusty spots and the site will give you good info on what the common replacement sheet metal replacement parts are for your truck. scribble down a list of those common parts and then go look closely at your truck in those areas and see how "good" your truck is. jack it up, put it on blocks so you can look on, n and under it. if you seriously plan to sell it will likely NOT be the guy next door (because he/she wouldda been asking already) so anybody interested will have direct questions and want to see pics of those common rust areas without driving across the country. if you are not up on the differences from year to year you may not realize some parts may have been swapped out over the years and some stuff may not be original to the truck. potential buyers may be able to point stuff out for you and those changes may have an impact on the asking/selling price. you might as well take pics while you are checking out the common rusty spots. if it is full of junk and debris then spend some time to clean it out so you and a potential buyer can get a good look and pics. if you find old parts under the seat or little bits in the glove box throw them in a box and keep them because some of the stuff is really not easy to source or not available anymore. once the body has been checked from top and underside then check out the suspension and steering. then you can make and ad with pics and a good idea of the condition can be had from a potential buyers perspective plus you won't seem like you want the world for the truck but have no idea what condition it is in. try to find out what engine it has, is it the original engine and if it is siezed up, list what transmission it has (column shift or floor shift) and whether it actually goes through the gears or if the linkage is worn beyond use, list any broken or missing parts and put relative pics in the ad. a pic from each side, an interior pic through an open door, a pic of the gauge cluster, a pic of the under hood area. have more pics ready of those potential rust areas and available to send to potential buyers if asked. if someone wants to come and see it then give a town name and rough location but not an address until that someone is actually closeby. that keeps the parts thieves away and the looky loos that drive by slow and keep you looking out the window but then they drive on. the next day you realize you're missing a fender or something. a lot of ads will say "mint" condition, "ran when parked", etc but in reality it is far from mint and the engine is siezed. be realistic and honest about what you have and price it fairly if you want to sell it. if you are just putting feelers out to see what it is worth but don't really wanna see it gone, then do the aforementioned work and check listings on the old car ads sites or private message one or two guys on here who turn a lot of vehicles over. like mr48 says, it is pretty hard to give an estimate of what a truck could be worth if there isn't a pic or two attached. think about it from a buyers perspective and what you would want to know if you were going to buy the truck. a big one would be ownership, then condition, then location. a transferable title for a truck in good shape, with quality pics turned right side up, with a well written descriptive ad, in the next town would be easier to sell than an untitled truck with a very small sideways pic, a poorly described "mint, ran when parked" ad, located across the country.
