Re: 60-66's in the movies

Not a movie, but I caught this snippet of a 64-66 on TV during a commercial for "values.com". It's part of a slideshow with Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World" playing in the background.

A little Trivia.
-another major blooper is that when you first see the truck on the railroad crossing, it is a dodge!! later in the scene when they are driving it turns into a 61 chevy!

couple fun things to note, it has original gm extended mirrors- I had heard that they did not use this style long, because of the vibration problems when driving, there was even an aftermarket brace made and sold to stiffen them up, and in the driving scene you can see why.

when james opens the drivers door you can see the yellow overspray from the hasty movie paint job- the "apache emblems are painted over too.

when james opens the passenger door to take his hostage out, you can see that the door stop has been removed (I am guessing in a 2 year old truck that it isn't already broken?) I suspect that it was removed to better facilitate the "scene"

pic is of one of those factory mirrors-

It also has a classic truck floor shifter, converted from a column shift originally and an aftermarket dash-mounted AM/FM stereo.

This truck is used in a ton of movies through the years.

I watched the commercial - never saw it before, I have to really laugh when he used his belt at a tow rope. At BEST he is a size 40" waist and it looks like about 6-7 ft. of belt BTW there is NO ONE in the car to steer it.....hahahahahahhah who the hell did the story board? Of course the car was not the subject matter. BUT if that guy was that stupid to tow a car with no one at the wheel or brakes, BEHIND a well done Classic Chevy he's too stupid to have a girlfriend and the PILLS won't help.

My '63 was used in an episode of Top Cops back in the '90's. It can be seen a few times in the background.

Re: 60-66's in the movies

I was watching C.H.I.P.S. yesterday and there was a white 62 3/4 ton long bed and the lady was going to be evicted out of here rental house and she thought she would try and kill herself she went flying through a fence and crashed it into a pond and sunk it up to the middle of doors, then later in the episode it showed her again driving that same truck and then it mysteriously changed into a 60's model ford truck same color and then again back to the 62 chevy truck and then she rolled it up on it's side and it was rocking back and forth then as soon as they get her out guess what the truck goes on down over the hill another truck ruined...guess tha't why I like watching the older episodes with the older vehicles.. I saw a mustang and a 69 Camaro drag racing on adam-12 and the Camaro flipped killing it's driver...

Family surprises dad with reconditioned 1962 Chevy pickup truck

PHOENIX - One Valley dad got a special Father’s Day surprise from his kids when they took him to a Phoenix car dealership.

The story begins over 50 years ago when Cecil Sims, fresh out of college and in the Forestry Service, drove with his good friend, Carl Winslow, from Williams to Phoenix to buy a new Chevrolet pickup truck.

He bought the 1962 half-ton truck from Courtesy Chevrolet for $1,700.

The truck has stayed in the family all these years and racked up some 300,000 miles of memories.

For the past 15 years the truck was close to scrap and may have ended up that way, but Cecil’s daughter and son-in-law hatched a plan to restore the truck and give it back to Cecil for Father’s Day.

That was in December of 2013 and while keeping it a surprise, Jim Anderson deconstructed and rebuilt the Chevy to pristine condition.

Anderson approached Courtesy Chevrolet to redeliver the truck to the showroom floor on Saturday where family and friends were on hand to join in on the surprise.

When Cecil Sims set his eyes on the reconditioned truck he couldn’t quite believe it.

“I owned one just like it,” he said.

Anderson said it was a deserving gift.

“I’ve been watching it rust for the last 17 years, actually probably 23 years, and it just seemed a shame to let it sit there and go to waste, so let’s get it fixed up and get it back to the gentleman so he can drive it.”

Hi Steve, and welcome. I hadn't heard of Temple Grandin, so I googled for some info and ended up downloading and watching the movie. Good call... I really enjoyed it. There were a handful of 60-66 C10s, and a few older and newer. Here's a few...
