Bench seat for 59

I know this has probably been asked a million times, but what kind of bench seats work well in 59s. I have buckets out of 2011 honda odysey, but they just don't look right.......! The custom one I like is like $2000, and that's not going to happen. Pictures would be great!!

Re: Bench seat for 59

I did like what sgtusmc did. Bought a bench seat from a 89 chevy at the pick'n pull for $100 and had it reupholstered for $500 in colors that match the truck. Fits in place like it was meant to be there. No regrets. $2K for a seat is robbery.

Re: Bench seat for 59

1989 1/2 ton chev. Works really well little thiner than original and gives up a bit of space for the steering wheel clearance. Some guys pie cit out a piece from the rear of the seat bracket to lay the seat back a bit.

Question Lowering the bench..........who's done it?

I am doing the same swap with an early 90's chevy Silverado bench. My big question is............ "Has anyone on here cut the seat frame to lower the bench seat down" I would like to have my 90's Chevy seat sit lower so that the top of the rear seat back is level with the bottom of my wrap around window. I have heard stories of guys doing this and would like to hear it from someone and see some pics.

I used a seat out of an 1989 for my 59 small window. It touched both doors, so we cut 3 inches out of the center and narrowed it. That was easy and it fits great. My stitch guy said the frame is just pipe, so I would guess you could also lower it the same way. Not positive though! If no one else knows, let me know and I will contact my stitch guy and find out for sure. A guy could cut out a section of the bottom stand and lower it that way, but then it would probably be sitting to close to the floor. Mine is a perfect height for a small window...........but too high for the big window I'm sure.

I appreciate the input, something to think about. I am sure I read someplace on the board where someone did this........just can't find the post.

Your referring to "pie cutting" the rear part of the seat frame?
