Trans hump question

I pulled the trans hump from the floor of my truck today to make a panel for it to install my floor shifter & it looks like its a high hump style pan. My truck is a 2wd with a 400 turbo & Im sure its all factory. I thought the tall pans were on 4X4 manual trans trucks only. Whats the deal with them?

Re: Trans hump question

most trucks that came with turbo 400 came with high humps, so did BB trucks

Re: Trans hump question

I was under the impression that if the hump is removable (without a sawzall ),then it's a high hump?

Re: Trans hump question

high hump bolts on, low hump does not.
All big block trucks with automatic
all 4 speeds
all 4X4
V-6 (gmc) w/TH400, only if a 1/2 ton

Otherwise, low hump was there.
