Not talking emission stuff just general quality . They aren't any better than caddie or Lincoln or any other cars in their price point.

My understanding is that the rest of the world gets reliable and long lasting MB diesel engines that can't be imported to the US anymore. Just like other countries get the Toyota Hilux, instead of the Tacoma (btw, who names a pickup after a crappy city?).

Supposedly you can get parts and service for MB diesels almost anywhere in the world. I got that information from reading "overlanding" forums.

This new logo has been growing on me, I must say. Am I the only one here? Who else likes it a lot less now than when you first saw it?

Think it's more of a demand problem people want high end performance to go with their perceived high end car .

So what most in the hobby think don't matter as you are not going to buy a new g.m. in the first place. And haven't in decades.
G.m. spent a few decades asking what those in the car hobby wanted, only to build it and ,crickets.

I remember very very well, people telling g.m. build a mid sized 2 door rear drive car. J.MOSS and skunk works built a mid 90's Monte Carlo on a Camaro floor pan. People cried build it build it, in early 2000's we got it, Only it was 10x better than what we begged for. Put a 2004-2006 pontiac GTO beside a mid 90's Chevy Monte Carlo. The GTO IS a production built J.Moss skunk works car everyone pleaded g.m. to build. it got here, and crickets,
SSR
G8
454ss TRUCK
EARLY 2000S ss TRUCK.
CHEVY CAPRICE (SS) 4 door powerhouse.
That is JUST the old school type.
forget the colbolt SS, the HHR SS/ the HHR panel. and the list goes on.
It I was g.m. I would cover my ears when anyone from the old car hobby speaks. They talk a good game till the product is available, then they are nowhere to be found.
What we think, say don't matter, As we have as a group, burnt them over and over and over and over again.
Those that are walking into a dealership and signing on a line and driving a new g.m.. THEIR opinion counts.
As they are putting their money where their mouth is.

That hurts my feelings a little. Lol. I still have an SSR and a 94 impala and am always looking for a 454ss to add. My dad had a g8 gxp and 2 chevy ss. Still daily drives one now. Those were all great and fun vehicles that went away way too soon.

Re: new GM logo

Forgot to mention I just tried to order a new Silverado with a 6.2 as I couldn’t find any and they told me possibly 6 months for that combo. There is still big demand for new GM trucks even if COVID is slowing down production. I was hoping my new truck would still have the old logo. The new one does look a little soft.

Exactly. The old one had more "Presence' in my opinion. Why change it if it's not broke.

I had a print of the old GM logo that was sent to me from our old buddy East Side Low Life. May he rest in peace. He was a cool guy.

Unfortunately my computer took a massive dump on me and I lost it along with a lot of other precious things. I didn't back things up in those days as well as I should have. Hindsight is 20/20 Otherwise I wouldn't have been married so many times.

I think that was the point? People demanded these vehicles, then when GM produced them, they didn't sell.
I would love to get ahold of an SSR! They were way out of my price range when the were made, then so few ever sold that they are somewhat rare now.
In reality though, they are a highly impractical toy. 2 seater, convertible pick-up truck that no one will ever use as a truck.....but I still want one.

LOL, me too! I have a '20 Colorado that has never had anything in the bed except for the rubber mat. I haul my bicycles on a rack that goes into the hitch receiver.
V6, work truck package, towing package......yes, I have pulled a trailer, but nothing in the bed.

I guess that's why they're making pickup beds about two feet long these days

My pickups don't get off that easy. Even my nice one has a topper on the back and a bed in the bed. It folds back so I can actually haul stuff.

That's only pertains to my Chevys. The Toyota and Dodge get beat and put away wet. I've had some parts in the bed of the 72 but that's about it

Re: new GM logo

The young carpenter I'm working with stuffed two window sashes and the frame (separated) into his back seat (sashes) and the pass-through trunk (frame) of his '94 Hinda Civic. Then you have people with pickups who never haul anything. . My first truck I bought was one year old back in '73. It was in amazing like new condition. I was amazed and everyone I told was amazed that there was not one single scratch in that bed. "Like nothing was ever hauled in it!", is what people would say in their astonishment, along with, "Who buys a truck and never hauls anything in it?". I've told that story and amazed people for decades. But that has become no story to tell at all these days.

Re: new GM logo

My Uncle told me a story from when he was working for this rough and tumble guy doing footings and foundations. The guy got a brand new 1973 beautiful pickup. The men were loading very carefully after a tough day of work. He was so angered by them that he took a 2x4 and smashed it across the hood of the truck. NOW LOAD THE ****ING TRUCK!!
