Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

The pin thing reminds me of a saying from one of my favorite YouTube guys I heard in the past few weeks. He said, "Now where I can put this so I can lose it." My shop life in just a few words for sure.

I typically find stuff after I have purchased the replacement though.

Vice Grip Garage. Not only is he genuinely good at what he does, he also has a really good Red Green show vibe. Cracks me up a bunch. I've started calling my hammer my Tonya Harding

I have a black speed square I've been using for my garage siding job... it walks off the job a minimum of 5-6x per day. I spend more time looking for it than installing siding. I should probably spray it bright orange so it only walks off a couple times per day.

Another Derrick fan I see. That guy is very good, entertaining, and seems very genuine. My favorite youtube channel for certain. I pick up tips from him and catch myself saying, "help me understand' instead of my usual sentence enhancer when I get stuck. And yes, I have referred to my hammer as my Tonya Harding more than once. I wonder if she has contacted him?

Tell you one thing I did on my compound miter saw, it has it's own, portable table I use but I have a hook on the underside where I keep a tape measure that stays with the saw. That way when I leave the one I measured with at the work area when I get back to the saw I have another to use.

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

mongo,
If you have not watched Vice Grip Garage on YouTube treat yourself and go watch and episode or two. Guy is really good, entertaining, and saving old rigs right and left.

One thing I have NEVER understood is camo wallets, flashlights, pocket knives, etc. Marketing gone crazy in my opinion. Who wants to drop a camo wallet or other in the woods and try to find it? That is just crazy, I want mine bright yellow or orange so I can find it!

Hope you get some IH time soon.

They didn't convince you to buy the camo thermals or underwear, too did they?

Every video he has is worth a watch. Some of the early ones you need to turn the sound down as he plays some pretty loud heavy metal music in the back ground. I think he was finding his style.

I will be buying a wildfire lift for my shop (100% USA) because of his review of them.

He's also just a skosh younger than me, (interwebs says 1984) so all the music and movie references he makes are all ones I'm well aware of. He throws out A LOT of one liners and lyrics from 80s/90s songs. My wife has always thought it was weird I randomly reference a line from a random movie or song, but she's watched a few episodes with me and realized there's more of "me" out there

This was the episode that got me hooked and still one of my favorites, and I'm not really that big of a Chevelle fan either:

I have to agree - I stumbled across Vice Grip Garage recently and the guy cracks me up! The sayings he has are so off the wall, I've rarely heard any of them before so its good entertainment.

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

I'm also A VGG fan. He has a lot of funny lines and a few of my buddies watch him as well and we are all stuck saying many of his sayings. It's a very good channel and also a reminder of how much money I lost out on by not starting a channel like his 15 years ago. His trucker hat addition cracks me up but I swear one of his best videos ever was where he got the ford tractor and was riding it like a bucking horse at the end to a rap video. Funny stuff!

For 87chevy.com..
I tried to get better pics but they are way down in there now and had to get to
I'm thinking I got the parts from jegs..and think this is the tabs and bulkhead fittings to go from -3an to 3/8 invert..I made the tab that the line goes thru..I wanted the lines stacked..

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

No truck as of late...been all in on the house repairs..
So..While over at the ol homestead, Mom has been keeping busy going thru some of their old stuff they had stored upstairs..she was throwing out some old papers and stuff , when this caught my eye...
The ORIGINAL operators manual for Columbus...I couldnt believe what I was seeing...
So you know I HAD to grab that..inside it was a service bulletin that covers how to properly shift the transmission and transfer case...seems like some folks were having difficulty figuring out how to shift ..
I had bought a reproduction operator's manual a while back..you can see the front and back cover are a little different...
The service bulletin was signed by C. J. Mask in 1956.....

Original manual, nice!! I think the 4 spoke wheel on the reproduction manual was a few years newer..

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Thanks Robert ..!..oddly enough ,some IH buddies of mine said the same thing about the steering wheel..they thought the 4 spoke wheel was a Scout wheel....but both trucks I have ,have 4 spoke wheels..meaning the orig manual shows the wrong wheel..kinda weird..

That's hilarious. It might be better if they knew. Somebody might fall out when you pull up in the yard with it.
