Engine Fire...Bad DAY!
My wife took the "Super" out of town to deliver some carpet for here brother( She drives it about 3 times a year) and apparently I had neglected the radiator level and oil level for a day too long. I only drive it about 4 miles total a day and it never even gets a chance to warm up but today it did!
Everything was going good but the temp gauge she said rose very fast and then there was the burning smell and the smoke! She kept going...until the 350 finally said no more and shut itself down. She managed to put out the surface fires with Pepsi before the fire trucks (2 and an ambulance) arrived. Well all is well and the tow truck driver got his $70, no one was hurt and she's back home in the driveway. The block is cracked apparently. The oil was nicely thick and burned! Got her filled back up but once I got it running on 5 or so cylinders the water started pouring out from an unlocated area, oh well, never liked that motor anyway! Happy Sunday! P.S. Anything more boring than dropping a 307 in this baby? I think not.

I sometimes have nightmares about those sorts of things.
Why no one else drives my truck.. EVER... not even sit in the drivers seat. Although I am sure your wife intended no harm things happen. Good luck. Hopefully tomorrows a better day.

That is terrible
 . Another reason to carry a fire exstingusher in your truck....i still dont have one but i plan to get one soon. I would break down and cry if my truck burned to the ground.

Fire!
Luckily the damage was limited to under the hood and I'm thankful for that! I'll be buying a fire extinguisher and everyone will know how to use it! I'm just thinking now I need to borrow/buy/or build an engine hoist...Anyone ever build your own hoist?

My wife did that once,, now she knows.. watch the gauges,, and pull over "SAFELY" as soon as possible, and use the cell phone.. I'll tell her what to do next,, no use making it worse by contining to drive it.. of course a cracked block is bad, but the whole truck could have burned up,, or worse someone hurt...

A friend of mine did it...he used a bottle jack you can get at the parts store, a set of casters out of JC Whitney, then just some old run of the mill boxed steel from a supply place. He used rods and cotter pins at the base of the hoist, then at the base of the arm so it could be dismantled and moved, or leaned up against the side of the garage. Worked well. Wish I had plans for it, but I remember it ran him around $75 once all was done, not counting welding materials, etc.

That s@cks sorry to here it at least they are both ok. At least your wife noticed, the water pump went out on my wifes last car and the only reason she noticed was because the heater didn't work. By the time she noticed it was making some very bad noises and now I drive her car at least once a week.
