Working on old blue today getting ready to pull the motor. Went ahead and pulled the transmission out and found this. Gross.

Yes, they were in the fan and heater box as well. They also took up residence inside the muffler, but outside the actual exhaust pipe. My uncle told me there was a horrible smell when he started it for the first time in years to load it on a trailer when he shipped it to me. When I cut the muffler off to get to the rear suspension I found out why it smelled so bad.

I think mice tend to like the C-10s more than the fords. Can't blame them.

Re: I hate mice part2 or why my clutch was slipping

Yep, I had a bad mouse smell in my 72 truck when I first got it. I noticed the heater core was leaking about the same time, so I decided to replace the core. WOW! Talk about a mess!!! I ended up pulling the entire heating system out of the truck! I took all of the parts, except the blower fan, and defrost ducts and soaking them in a barrel of bleach water(with lots of bleach), then using various scrub brushes, I scrubbed everything good inside and out, and then hit all the metal parts with rust killer and then painted everything with gloss black including the inside of all the parts. I wanted to "seal in" anything that might still be in there so it would never smell. The biggest "damage" was the firewall that opened up to the outer heaterbox/core box. The bottom of the opening was rusted out. I used some brass shim stock to close the hole up and seal it. This is my daily driver and it'll never be a matching #'s truck, so,,,,
