Tangier orange...that's cool, never seen that color before. Wonder if that's a candian thing ? Anyway , the 67 should be a neat truck with that pile of parts there

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!

Back to some updates! Today I removed the floor and firewall by drilling out all the perimeter spot welds. I left the cab corners and rockers in place so i can match up the new floor and they will also add to the strength of the stripped cab. My arm is dead after drilling out all the spot welds while trying to retain the exterior metal!

Once i got the dash stripped i could move on to taking the firewall out. I originally wasn't going to remove the complete firewall but i started thinking about patches and matching it to the floor and i figured it was best just to change out the whole thing. Heres a few pics of drilling it out and removal.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!

Once the floor and firewall were out i could really see how bad the rust was in the kick panel and lower hinge post area. So they needed to be rebuilt! It was tricky to do with trying to retain the old rocker panel but it needs to be done before the floor goes in. Heres a few pics of that repair and the last pic is the cab prepped with weld-threw primer ready for the firewall! Thats it for today!!!

Thanks swamp rat, I try and take a lot of progress pics to use as reference and to add to my albums. I was lucky enough that the rockers weren't completely shot and I could use them for reference points and cab strength while the floor was gone. Once the floor is in place I plan to realign everything then swap out the old rockers/cab corners for new. It's tricky trying to dissect the cab from the inside out but so far it's working out pretty good.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!

More progress! The floor is finally going in and it fit awesome! One test fit then took it out and prepped it for welding. I stood the cab up on end then basically just dropped it in. I clamped the rear of the floor to the cab then flipped the cab upside down and made sure The inner rockers lined up with the old rockers then i clamped those in place and moved on to lining up the firewall. There was some slight tweaking of the firewall for the seams to meet the floor but it wasn't a big deal. Pics are worth a thousand words so i will just keep posting pics!

And last bit of work for the day was removing the firewall/fender liner supports and reinstalling to the cab. Hopefully i can get onto the rockers and cab corners sometime this week but if not i will try and get those done and posted next weekend!

So a couple questions....

Have you ever done this before cause your making it look easy..
Are you using a Mig or a spot welder?

Lol thanks! Yes I've done this work before. Not a full floor in a C10 but I've restored quite a few cars/trucks in the past. But trying to build and save the patina is the tricky part! I also use a mig.

Back at it! I had a good productive weekend as i got the Rockers and Cab corners done! I also got some dash work in that i will post some pics of later. Most of the pics i took were of the pass side rockers because once i got going i forgot to take pics! These first few pics are removal and prep.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!

Rust gone! Rocker and cab corner on! I had to spend a little extra time on the gaps since i cut the entire rear pillar out but after fitting the door a dozen times they turned out nice and even!

Heres some of the dash work! I hated the fact that someone hacked up the dash to put a Big International radio in this thing! So I had to chop it up even more to put the section in from my 72. I know there are some differences between the 67 to 72 but for me it wasn't a big issue.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!

And in with the new!!! Thats the last bit of welding on the cab so now i will either start the body work and blending the paint (patina style) or i might move on the the fender work or shortening the box???

Fantastic work! I wish I was confident enough (read qualified enough) to do the metal work you're doing. Looks like it'll be super solid when you finish with this kind of great work.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!

wow... nice work so far!

that's a lot of spot welds to remove. are you using a spot weld cutter or just drilling through everything with a normal drill bit? after that many i'm sure you have an opinion on what's the best tool. i'd be curious on any thoughts you have.
