WTB Bucket Seat Back

Looking for really nice OEM set of seat backs. I am restoring my bucket seats and want to stay with OEM if I can find a nice set. Found one set on eBay but they had a crack and cost was too much for a set that needed repair.

Re: WTB Bucket Seat Back

I believe I have a set - will need to dig for them though. I recall these have thin hairline peripheral cracks/splits common to OEM pieces but no missing components. Those on my Blazer now had similar cracks and were repaired and reinforced prior to install. Does my description fit with the quality you would consider? If so, shoot me a text and I'll reply with pics.

Thanks Pete. Yes, I think that could work. My next challenge would be learning or finding someone who could repair them. Any tips ?

Text on its way.

Ttt.

One of my original backs can be repaired. I would be OK with one back if anyone has a single out there.

I repaired the one's on my Jimmy, and it sounds like the damage is much like the one's that are offered.

I just reinforced the backsides with a few layers of fiberglass. Just a bit of resin, hardener and a few small pieces of matt glass.

I think they'll hold up very well.

I have two but one has a chunk maybe 1 by 1.5 inches so really a single good one. I’d sell it. Matt

Re: WTB Bucket Seat Back

Thanks guys.

Ptskj,
I’m trying to find a set or a single without having to take DeadheadNM’s spare set. 6t727t2 hasn’t had time to find packaging and arrange for shipping yet. Jimmy70 contacted me and may have one and is planning to send me pics on Thursday.
I’m not sure if I will try to repair the cracks myself or hire someone to do it but it looks like that will be the direction I’m going.

Mrtoni,
Send me some pics of the single back you have that isn’t missing pieces.

Re: WTB Bucket Seat Back

Are you still wanting seat backs ? I messaged Pete (DeadheadNewMexico ) asking about my seat backs and he refered me to you as you were wanting a set. Mine are Parchment and a 9 1/2 out of 10. If your interested I can take some pics and post em up later today.

Re: WTB Bucket Seat Back

Evening Already Gone,
Those look pretty nice. There are a few balls/bumps on the backs near the edges but I can’t make out what there are. Is it a past repair or something done to try and prevent a crack from extending? Can you post some pics of these spots, please. How much for shipping to 97217.

Thanks!

Re: WTB Bucket Seat Back

You have a great eye for detail. Yes, the blobs are glue and are on cracks.

Re: WTB Bucket Seat Back

Thank you Already Gone,
Those backs look nice but I think I’m going to pass for the time being. I found some on eBay a few weeks ago and am currently having them repaired and painted. I may kick myself for not getting yours in that I’m sure someone will grab these up real quick.
