To do or not to do that is the quistion

Ok guys I'm looking for input on this. I have a 1991 x-cab 4x4 s-10 with a 4.3 v-6 that is my daily driver I have started body work and ordered a lift kit for it so I can have a nice looking truck but I have 350 sitting in the garage waiting to be reassembled that is just calling my name and I'm kinda itching to put it into something but I know that a 4.3 can be a vicious motor that has alot of potential so I want opinions on what i should do

keep the 4.3, you're gonna kill yourself on gas, tires, and Ujoints with a 350 in there for a DD.

Yup leave it stockish the way gas is going you might regret doing a 350 swap to a DD

X3 on that... besides, you don't want to added strain of extra weight on the S10 IFS suspension with the lift. Which lift kit are you going with?

Re: To do or not to do that is the quistion

I'm just doing a body lift so I can get larger tires under it I don't offroad enough to justify the cost of a suspension lift. I have decided i am going to do the swap I do plan on upgrading the reared to handle the torque of the 350 but as far as gas mileage goes I don't think there will me much of a difference as I only get about 16 mpg with a good tune up on my 4.3

That rear axle should be OK... they upgraded them to 28 spline axles in the late 80s. I know plenty guys running the factory axle with 350s.

Re: To do or not to do that is the quistion

I would do it BUT the ONLY way I would put a 350 in it is if you keep it TBI. It will get BETTER mpg, better drivability........ put a STOCK TBI in it... Get this book..... http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Che..._S-10_V-8.html

To keep the TBI, I think the only thing you need to change would be the injectors and the prom.
