Awesome build, learned a ton reading through the thread. Can you post any pics or info on the garage paint spraying setup? What brand/type of paint was used?

Thanks, the paint was just a house brand at the local paint supply place.

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban

Got the air fittings in I ordered and picked up some more at the hydraulic shop while getting the leader hose made up. Got home an got the coalescing filter bracket made up and mounted and got all the fittings installed in the tank. Once I get the truck back on jack stands and ill finish up running the hose back to the tank.

Its about time to get my accuair ordered and I will probably order up my air conditiong soon too.

In this picture, isnt your alternator going to squeel like a pig when there is a load on it? There doesnt appear to be enough belt on that pulley.

Amazing build sir.

Thanks. We shall see, ran one like this before with a dual alternator setup and didnt have a problem. If it does, I can swap the idler and belt around but ill have to swap out the lower radiator hose if i do that.

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban

Got my battery mounted, the battery cable run, and I got the rest of the fuel lines and fuel pump wiring run.

Also got my March ac bracket, but they didnt send the screws for the idler cover.

I got a can of gas and decided to crank it. Here is a video I took. Im going to change the starter to one of those high torque mini starters. I have a holley black fuel pump and I dont know if I can handle the noise it makes.

It was actually what I used to prop up the york compressor when I was making up the bracket for it. It just never found it way back to the scrap wood pile I have.

Thank you!

Placed an order today at Laidbackrecreations for my gauges and my vintage air. Ordered the Dakota Digital VHX, the gps module, the light module, the air pressure module and the light controller, and I got the polished compressor with the vintage air. Hopefully UPS is getting the shipping thing fixed after the holidays.

Thanks for the great prices. I asked for package prices from a couple of places and you guys were over $100 cheaper than anyone else that I got a response from.

I guess the real name is the retained ACC Power with Headlight and Dome Light control. The module has a sensor on the dash and controls the headlights according to how dark it is and it dims the dome light light, and keeps the radio on until you open the door like the new cars do. It takes control of the lights so I got the dimmer knob to replace the factory headlight switch. I guess I was excited when I posted this, its just one module that does this. http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...prod/prd42.htm

Here is the GPS module http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...rod/prd837.htm

I got the module that will display the air pressure from the tank on the dash http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...rod/prd753.htm

The shift indicator module that displays the shifter position on the dash. The shift indicator is also a neutral safety switch and reverse light switch. http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...prod/prd60.htm

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban

Thanks for the links---they build first class stuff! At SEMA in '12 I asked Dakota if they'd considered a module to control a remote radio head. I had a project I really didn't want to add a radio display in the dash on. I thought it would be great with a blue tooth receiver for an iPhone, etc. Unfortunately, that wasn't an application they were interested in!

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban

Painless has a moudule that does the same as the dakota digital retained power that I was lookng at but it was about twice te price. I think it will be nice to have alot of th features the newer cars.

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban

I got my gauges and all the modules I have wired up. I cranked up the engine and am really happy with them, the GPS is even getting a signal in the garage. The only thing that disappoints me with them is they will not control electric fans without another module. I still have to mount the sender for the gear selector.

The retained power module, the dash bezel, and a couple of things from vintage air I ordered are back ordered.

I had to temporarily mount the evaporator to figure out where I could run wire and mount the modules. I also added another fuse box for the gauges, modules and accuair.

I got the accuair mounted up and wired up. I still need to run the wire for the ride height sensors and mount them.

This morning I connected the air lines to the valve block and put some air in the tank to check it all out. Everything worked perfect except for the air pressure on the dash. I figured out where I have the senders mounted (on the valve block) is wrong, they should be mounted directly into the tank, so I need to pick up a couple more fittings.
