Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

100 bucks for that front clip and cab... there is no way you could lose money on this unless you tried to.
Get it, then make up your miond... if you decide to go big, sell this one and pocket the cash.
I have no use for those parts, but I'd buy them given the oportunity.

Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

The small window is way more classic looking, no doubt. And it looks OK on the fleetsides, but can be especially tiny looking on longbeds.

As for actual blindspots, I can't say I have too much trouble. Sure, I have to crane my neck a little extra way, but pickup trucks are already easy to see out because there's just a bed on the back.

Also, I have the factory side mirrors and they're a lot more convenient than those small, top-mount mirrors you see. GOing into the the right lane is no big deal, it's only going into the left lane that I have to move my head back to see through the rear window. And this is coming from a guy who drives his 1967 truck everyday, and is often found in the fast lane

I have found that if your driver's side mirror is adjusted right, all you have to do is lean foward to see the blind spot on the left side. Seriously, it doesn't take long to get used to the small window, and there are no more blind spots than most of the cars I've driven. Plus, the small window gives you some nice corners to hide in when the sun beats down through the back glass.

So, bigants71, which cab did you get?

Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

I like big windows on a SWB fleetside (even a '67), but there's something about the look of a small window on a 3/4 T or 1 ton IMO. It has a heavy duty look to me I guess because bigger trucks (C40 and up) always had them. I was adamant about building my dually pickup with a small window. It wouldn't look near as tough in the rear with big window in my opinion.

Yeah no kidding. If you drive a loaded ramp truck as much as I do, you forgot you have a back window!

I still like the small back window.I just don't understand bringing threads over a year old back when the OP isn't around or at least not much.

Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

Like Kager67 I've had both.
I had a real nice fully loaded 67 longbed in the early 70's and the only advantage to the small back window was that I didn't get sun on the back of my neck too often. The blocked vision especially if you don't run big mirrors is a real pain.

Having had a big window in the 70 and now the 71 I'd have to vote for the big window.

I do agree that the small window looks pretty slick with a short stepside though.

IF I was in your position Id buy the big window with the ac. Its been hot here lately. If you buy it you don't really have to run the A/C. Its also SAFER

Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

the best reason i heard to take a small window was...." i prefer the small window because you can take the kevlar out of one bullet proof vest, limo tint the glass and line the inside glass with the kevlar. it makes you feel a little safer when ridin' through the hood!"

Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

I say small window... Unless your not building a '67... I saw a small window with a 71-72 front clip, ughhh...
So, I vote small window with 67 clip, no marker lights, etc... Big window if your building anything else.
