Spid question

Ya, Ya, Ya,,,,another SPID question. It doesn't really make a difference to me but I am curious about something. Would a radio be listed on every SPID in which the truck had a radio? I mean....my SPID does not list a radio. Does that mean the truck did not come with one originally? Or is it something that may or may not have been listed?

Re: Spid question

What made me curious is the fact that there is no hole punched for an antenna in the cowl. I have my antenna frame mounted under the cab.

Re: Spid question

Well then if that's the original cowl your truck definitely didn't come with a radio.

Re: Spid question

That's what I was thinking. It doesn't make a difference one way or another, I'm not doing any kind of restorations. I was just curious.

Re: Spid question

From everything I've learned about SPID sheets, if it came with a radio then it would be listed on the SPID, and it will also designate either AM/FM or just AM.

It's hard to read but there isn't much listed. 350 V8, TH transmission, HD springs, ammeter, anti-glare mirror, green vinyl, full foam bench.....Nothing about radio.

Re: Spid question

If the radio is not listed on the SPID it was not factory installed. Radios were not part of any option and were stand alone. So if you wanted a radio it had to be ordered or a dealer accessory radio install kit could be used.

Re: Spid question

I would think your truck would have had a radio delete plate as well

I wouldn't know. The dash was cut when I bought the truck. I'm not overly concerned. I was just curious. I like to read and know about history and how things were. As for my truck....it's just a truck to haul things. I just like tinkering.

When I got the truck it had a Spark-O-Matic radio in it with horrible speakers and no antenna. So I frame mounted an antenna and put a cheap Kenwood receiver and speakers. It sounds ok. Usually I just listen to the rumble of my exhaust though. LOL

Re: Spid question

Mine has the radio delete and no radio listed on the spid. But somebody punched a hole in the cowl for the antenna which is currently not installed.
