BBC? Intake ID help
I've recently was given this intake and told it was from a big block Chevy, but I've been utterly unable to find the casting number online. Can anyone take a guess at what it might be or what it may have come from on? It appears to me that the casting number is 8888848 which is simply ridiculous. The last three digits could be interpreted as "348" but that doesn't help much either.

So, it would appear this is a high-rise cast iron manifold from a late 60's 396. I may have posted this to the wrong forum, but would this have any value installed on a 454 low end torque build for a squarebody? Or would I be better off trying to get it into the hands of somebody restoring a 66 Impala?

Re: BBC? Intake ID help
It is a much better intake than the truck pancake intake. If you have it and are running large oval port heads on the 454 I would run it.

Re: BBC? Intake ID help
That intake should make plenty of low end grunt on a 454. Even on the later model peanut port heads that intake will work and work well.
