About a car(and this is in the right section)

That`s right! This IS the 67/72 trucks board, right?Well,my sister had this car when we were younger. It was a cool and sizeable American thing from 1967.Kinda looked like a`55 Chevy, but it was a`67 4 door sedan. The 327 ran great and shifted real good through that TH400.Although the dash was factory, all the gauges were Stewart Warner. The 12-bolt rear in that car had a posi unit in it,too. It was hard to believe a car built in`67 would have 6-lug wheels, but it did.One rainy day she slid into a curb and it bent her spindle. An unusual car like this could be tough to find parts like that.I mean, how many Checkers do you ever see? That`s one great thing about those Checkers.I just went to the junk yard and got a spindle/knuckle off a`70 Chevy truck that was there and had her running that evening.
Those things were built right onto a Chevy/GMC 1/2t truck chassis with all GM drivetrain.I always wanted to find a standard wagon(4dr)and put the drivetrain from a GM 4wd under one to end up with a Suburban-like wagon that was unique and yet you could bolt GM parts on it all day long.Next time you want something different.Think about a Checker sedan with ECE 4/6 drop,4wheel discs,Bad Rat motor.....Or,how about a farm beater...3/4t suspension, old 8-lugger split rims,5 colors, chickens and goats in the back seat...
Here`s an ad for those who don`t know the cars:

Re: About a car(and this is in the right section)

My boss in Tx had a '64 Checker Airport Limo.4 doors down each side,an American flag on one fender,Tx on the other and a set of Longhorn Bull Horns on the hood.It was a blast to drive. However some Checkers had the Mopar power train. This one had a 383 and 3 speed on the tree.It was also fun to take to the carwash. Most people under 45 have never seen or driven a column shifter.

Re: About a car(and this is in the right section)

I never knew they came on other frames/drivetrains.I guess if the`64 was all mopar,it would have had a solid front axle/leaf springs.
You know Checkers were originally their own manufacturer for their own cabs.

Re: About a car(and this is in the right section)

they were tough solid cars, I saw tons when I was younger at Ft Leonard Wood in Missouri, they are all gone now, and I would love to find one to restore myself. I did see one once in a demo derby 25 or so years or so ago. (dang I'm getting old) and it took first place! took a beating to!

They also came with Ford drivetrains. Checker's were built into the 80's...
