Wheel/tire question
I have a 62’ and am looking at buying a 20” x 18” staggered wheel/tire package. As of now, I have still have the 6 lug drum brake set up. I am planning to do the conversion to 5 lug disc set up down the road. If I buy a 6 lug package now, is there any way of still using these same wheels once I convert to 5 lug? Some type of adapter maybe? Thanks

You can get wheel adapters but if they will most likely be the two piece type and will be about two inches thick pushing your wheels out. They are not cheep and many do not consider them safe they are sold for off road use only.
My advice is to get the wheels you want after you decide if you will stay with the 6 lugs or will go with 5. They do sell 6 lug disc brake kits

If you decide to use adapters, i have a set of 6 lug to 5 on 5 5 lug.
Almost new. I had 5 lug disc brakes but hadnt done the rear end. I ended up doing new rear end with 5 lug axles. Lmk if youre interested...sweet deal Kevin |

I’ll keep them in mind. I’m now looking into swapping out my 6 lug brake drums for 5 lug, if that is possible. I really don’t have the need to do the whole disc conversion since I only drive the truck a thousand miles a year. Would like 5 lug for the better wheel choices

When I first did my dropped spindle disc brake conversion, I did 6-lug and kept it that way for several years but finally switched over to 5-lug. If I had it to do over again, I would probably have done the 5-lug conversion from the start. I don't think the 6 to 5 conversion axles were as readily available back then.

I guess if I am going to go through the trouble of replacing axles and drums, probably be just as far ahead to to the disc conversion. I guess there is no easy answers. Cool 6 lug wheels seem to be pretty hard to come by. I wasn’t aware of that until I really started looking.
